With the 2017 MLS season just a few short months away, the league has announced the dates for each team’s home opening match.

The season schedule begins with the Portland Timbers welcoming expansion side Minnesota United to Providence Park for the latter’s first-ever MLS match on Friday, March 3 at 9:30 p.m. ET.

Also opening at home on the first weekend of the 2017 season are the Columbus Crew, the LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake, the Colorado Rapids, D.C. United, the Houston Dynamo, and the San Jose Earthquakes at varying times on Saturday, March 4. Several other teams also open at home on March 5, including Orlando City, the Vancouver Whitecaps, and Atlanta United, who will be hosting their first-ever MLS match against the New York Red Bulls.

The second week sees a large bulk of the remaining teams playing in front of their fans for the first time in 2017, including the Red Bulls, Chicago Fire, New England Revolution, Philadelphia Union, Montreal Impact, and Sporting Kansas City on Saturday, March 11th. New York City FC host their first match on Sunday, March 12th, as does Minnesota United as they welcome fellow expansion team Atlanta United in a big-time national showdown.

The next weekend sees the two title-winners of 2016 returning to home action, as Supporters’ Shield and U.S. Open Cup winners FC Dallas opens against the New England Revolution on March 18, while the MLS Cup champion Seattle Sounders host the Red Bulls at CenturyLink Field on March 19.

Last, but not least, are MLS Cup runners-up Toronto FC, who will enter BMO Field for the first time since their loss via penalties to the Sounders in the 2016 finale on March 31, when they host Sporting Kansas City.

  1. Yeah, I can see why Jurgen wanted the offseason shortened. We have more than 70 days until the season starts, with preseason training starting about 1 month from now.
