Following a full slate of midweek matchups, several U.S. Men’s National Team regulars face tough tasks in league play over the weekend.
Christian Pulisic and Borussia Dortmund likely face the toughest test in the form of a visit to Bayern Munich, who remain comfortably atop the Bundesliga table. Pulisic earned a substitute appearance during Dortmund’s midweek win over Hamburg. Bobby Wood’s club takes on Hoffenheim while Alfredo Morales and Terrence Boyd collide when FC Ingolstadt takes on Darmstadt.
In England, Geoff Cameron and Stoke City also face an attacking powerhouse in Liverpool. Cameron featured as a defensive midfielder in a 1-0 loss to Burnley midweek, and it remains to be seen how Mark Hughes chooses to utilize the USMNT defender against a normally-vicious Liverpool attack.
Elsewhere, Omar Gonzalez and Pachuca look to build off of a midweek CONCACAF Champions League win in a match against Ventura Alvarado, Jorge Villafana and Santos Laguna while Timmy Chandler and Aron Johannsson collide in Bundesliga play.
