Liverpool – Arsenal headlines This Week’s Soccer on TV and Online

Arsenal’s surge back into England’s elite offers plenty for the team’s massive fanbase to daydream about.

The Gunners are in the EFL Cup’s final four and are vying to win the competition for the first time in 30 years, but they face a steep test in Liverpool on Thursday. The first leg matchup should have happened last week, but a COVID outbreak in Liverpool’s camp pushed it out. With some players still in protocols, stars (Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané) missing, and a congested schedule, Arsenal’s odds are much better than you might expect.

On the other side of the semifinal bracket, Antonio Conte is going to have to inspire Tottenham to dig deep in their matchup with Chelsea on Wednesday, as they have to erase a 2-0 deficit from the first leg.

Cups are the theme for the best viewing this week, and there are some high-stakes matchups taking place across Europe.

Wednesday’s Supercoppa Italiana features Inter and Juventus, who will duke it out for Italy’s first domestic trophy of the season. Not to be confused with the Coppa Italia, where Gianluca Busio and Venezia find themselves in the round of 16 and matched up with Atalanta, also on Wednesday.

There is also an El Clasico showdown in the Supercopa de Espana semifinal on Wednesday. Barcelona has not been able to keep pace with arch-rival Real Madrid in league play this year, but certainly is talented enough to get a little retribution.
