Leeds United’s quest to avoid a relegation fight this English Premier League season resumes on Wednesday with Jesse Marsch’s squad welcoming defending champions Manchester City to Elland Road.
Brenden Aaronson returns to league action with the Lilywhites after U.S. men’s national team involvement at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Tyler Adams’ suspension will force him to miss the Premier League showdown in Yorkshire, but Aaronson will be fighting for an impactful performance against one of Europe’s best clubs. Aaronson, 22, has scored one goal and added two assists in 14 league appearances to date, being used in a number of different roles by Marsch.
Leeds United has suffered back-to-back hammerings against the Citizens in league play, losing its last two head-to-head meetings by a combined score of 11-0. The Lilywhites are two points clear of the relegation zone through 14 matches played, but have played one fewer match than all five clubs currently behind them.
