Scottish Premiership side Celtic earned its first point of the current UEFA Champions League group stage on Wednesday.
Cameron Carter-Vickers started and went the distance for Celtic in a 2-2 draw with La Liga visitors Atletico Madrid. Carter-Vickers made his second-straight start for Celtic after returning to action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The U.S. men’s national team defender won four duels, made two interceptions, and six recoveries, facing off against Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata for most of the match.
Although Atletico pegged Celtic back twice in the match, the draw was a crucial result for the SPFL leaders against stiff competition. Celtic will next travel to Hibernian in league play for its final match of October.
Elsewhere in Europe, Dante Polvara scored his second UEFA Europa Conference League goal of the season. Timmy Chandler registered one assist off the bench for Eintracht Frankfurt. Christian Pulisic started but AC Milan fell to Paris Saint-Germain.
In England, Reggie Cannon made his full QPR debut but the London club suffered another league defeat. Haji Wright and Coventry City fell at Rotherham United.
