The first two host venues of the 2024 Copa America have been determined.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta was awarded the tournament opener while South Florida’s Hard Rock Stadium will host the final of the tournament, CONMEBOL announced Monday. Lionel Messi and Argentina are the reigning Copa America holders after defeating Brazil in the 2021 edition.

The 2024 Copa America draw is slated for Dec. 7 in Miami.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium will install a grass field over its artificial playing surface for the tournament. Hard Rock Stadium, which has served as the home venue of the Miami Dolphins for the past 36 years, has a Bermuda grass field.

Both Atlanta and Miami have been chosen as host sites for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

“We expect stadiums filled with the passion of the entire American continent for the inauguration and the final,” Alejandro Dominguez, president of the South American governing body CONMEBOL said.

“The cities have passionate sports and football fans renowned for getting behind major events,” Victor Montagliani, president of CONCACAF said.

The Copa America is expanding this season, with six teams from North America joining the traditional 10 nations from South America that compete for the continental championship. It mirrors the 2016 edition of the tournament, which was also held on U.S. soil.

Four of the six CONCACAF representatives will be determined after the conclusion of this week’s Nations League quarterfinal round. The four quarterfinal losers will take part in a play-in round for the final two places next March in Dallas, Texas.
