Josh Sargent finishes as finalist for EFL Championship Player of the Month

Josh Sargent was not named EFL Championship Player of the Month for February, but it doesn’t take away from the impactful month that the American delivered.

Sargent finished as a finalist for the monthly award, losing out to Ipswich Town’s Omari Hutchinson on Friday, the EFL announced. The 24-year-old Sargent earned Norwich City’s Player of the Month honors after contributing heavily to the Canaries unbeaten run.

Sargent scored five goals in four league appearances during the February schedule, helping Norwich City earn three victories and one draw. The U.S. men’s national team forward returned from injury in late-December and has been on a hot run of form in 2024.

A total of eight of Sargent’s 11 goals this season have come since New Years Day, while Norwich City fights for a top-six spot in the EFL Championship. His impressive run should also put Sargent on the radar of USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter for involvement in this month’s CONCACAF Nations League Final Four.

English Premier League side Brentford is also reportedly targeting Sargent for a potential move to London this summer.

Norwich City sits seventh in the league table on 55 points and next takes on Rotherham United on Saturday.
