Americans Abroad Weekend Preview: Musah, Adams, and more

AC Milan seeks a winning end to its Serie A campaign and Yunus Musah will be among those Rossoneri players aiming to carry club form over to the international level this summer.

Musah and AC Milan visits Torino on Saturday in their penultimate match of the season. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder has delivered a positive debut campaign in Italy, logging 39 combined appearances and two assists. Musah has been in-and-out of Stefano Pioli’s starting lineup during the second half of the season, but the 21-year-old will certainly be fighting to start once again this weekend.

With back-to-back victories over Torino under its belt, AC Milan will be favored to earn three points on Saturday. A positive end of the season could be important for Musah ahead of USMNT duty at the Copa America this summer.

In England, Tyler Adams and Bournemouth visit Chelsea in their season finale. Auston Trusty and Sheffield United host Tottenham.

  1. Paulo Fonseca looking close to taking over AC Milan. Does he see Pulisic as his #10/SS or on the wing? Inquiring minds want to know?

Also from Italy, Weah with heartfelt goodbye to Allegri titled “Sad day in Turin” saying “thank you for changing my life”. Given his not great minutes seems a little surprising.

    • JR,

Much of Weah’s “not great minutes ” this season can be attributed to injuries.

That’s not really on Allegri or Weah.

Allegri took him from low profile Lille and gave him a chance to showcase his stuff at the much higher profile Juve.

Timo gave glimpses of what he could be but it really wasn’t enough. Still, I can see why Weah would be grateful to Allegri for believing in him enough to bring him there in the first place. Allegri’s exit has been a long time in the making but who knows what next year might have looked like had Allegri stayed.

And if Timo has a good Copa who knows where he could go next?

  2. Interesting, Weston McKennie and Josh Sargent both had very good years at their club, at least in regard to their personal form.

Sargent and Norwich just got trounced by Leeds in the Championship playoffs. Coach David Wagner is fired the next day.

Juve wins the Coppa Italia. But their manager Allegri apparently went nuts at the end and is fired two days later.

Wonder how next season will work for both.

    • Allegri has been rumored on the outs for months. I think they’d been giving him hope but then recently told him it wasn’t going to happen. So then he flipped out.

  3. I absolutely expect Reyna to be a force at the Copa America. He needs to boost his stock for a potential summer move. Maybe Fiorentina comes back in for him. I have to admit I want to see more American players in Serie A. My favorite European league.
