Americans Abroad Weekend Preview: Pulisic, Weah, and more

AC Milan hasn’t raised too many eyebrows through the early stages of the Serie A season but a derby victory on Sunday could propel them into the top half of the league table.

Christian Pulisic, Yunus Musah and their Rossoneri teammates will face reigning champions Inter in the first Milan Derby of the season. Pulisic is riding good form right now after scoring midweek in the Rossoneri’s 3-1 UEFA Champions League loss to Liverpool. The U.S. men’s national team star has scored in each of his last three matches for club and country, giving him three goals and two assists for AC Milan so far.

Musah, who did not feature midweek, has only started once in Serie A play so far. The versatile midfielder remains a key piece of Paulo Fonseca’s plans this season and could very well jump back into the starting lineup this weekend. However, another unused appearance could provide slight worry for Musah going forward.

Elsewhere in Italy, Tim Weah, Weston McKennie and Juventus host Napoli. Gianluca Busio and Venezia host Genoa.

In England, Antonee Robinson and Fulham host Newcastle United. Josh Sargent and Norwich City face Watford. Gabriel Slonina and Barnsley take on Burton Albion.

In Germany, Joe Scally and Borussia Moenchengladbach take on Eintracht Frankfurt.

In Spain, Luca De La Torre and Celta Vigo face Athletic Bilbao.

Elsewhere, Richie Ledezma and PSV travel to Fortuna Sittard. Brandon Vazquez aims to continue his scoring run for Monterrey. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Auston Trusty seek advancement in the Scottish League Cup. George Bello and LASK continue their league schedule, as does Rokas Pukstas and Hajduk Split.

Comments

  1. Watching Koleosho more. Very much in the same mold as Cade Cowell. Except Cowell is more of a physical presence. Koleosho like Cowell needs to get better in tight spaces. Still a ways to go for them both.

    • Every time I read about Cade, I think of Brek Shea, another big, fast, athletic, powerful, direct type.

When he first emerged with the USMNT he was not the laughing stock punch line that he eventually became. I thought he was awesome but I was wrong.

To succeed in soccer , you need more than just being able play in the NFL as a wide receiver or a corner back.
