Consistent playing time at Dutch club FC Utrecht has certainly benefitted U.S. men’s national team attacker Paxten Aaronson.
Aaronson scored his second goal of the Eredivisie campaign on Saturday as FC Utrecht defeated RKC Waalwijk 3-2 at home. The former Philadelphia Union homegrown delivered a strong 90 minutes while also delivering one of the top goals of the league season so far.
With the two clubs tied 1-1, Aaronson called his own number in the 51st minute. A loose ball rolled to Aaronson just inside of the Waalwijk 18-yard box, allowing him to rifle a left-footed strike into the top-left corner.
FC Utrecht would hang on for three points, claiming their sixth win out of seven matches this season.
Aaronson now has goals in each of his last two outings for FC Utrecht, helping them remain unbeaten in league play. Sitting second in the standings right behind reigning champions PSV, FC Utrecht and Aaronson will now head into the international break before facing FC Groningen and Feyenoord in their final two league matches later this month.

You should look up the Matko Miljevic goal for Newell’s Old Boys. 35 yards out game winner into the upper 90. His time in Montreal wasn’t great but he is getting good minutes with Poch and Messi’s boyhood club. At one time he was a highly coveted dual nat still only 23.
Paxten just looked so “almost” with Frankfurt. Got in good spots, tried to do smart things, but he just would rush, scuff, misfit the ball whenever he had a chance to make an impactful play. Was tough to watch after a while as they gave him a lot of chances, but between his U20 play and brain u could see why. Lack of first team minutes in Philly really hurt him get into a confident groove and he wasn’t ready for EF. These last two matches it looks like something has just clicked. Wonderful to see because this is what he has shown he can do regularly at your level, U20’s, and in some minutes with Philly. Great to see and I really think this is the turn.
Balogun
Paredes – Reyna – Weah
Adams – LDLT
Wiley – Richards CCV – Dest
Not a terrible line up of injurred players. Who would win between the line up that we will see coming out of this camp and the one above if all were healthy. Of course give this team keeper from our outstanding keeper pool.
It isn’t that bad…at all.
Watching the US religiously back in the day I completely understood our keepers were the difference for us for a couple of decades, along with conservative play. So many took it for granted and overestimated our players TBH. Navas did for CR what ours used to do for us. Hell, when we lost 2-0 at home at RB arena in qualies, the match that truly cost us qualifying IMO, Navas was the key. He made three great stops, at crucial times, and that was it. Put a top TH, Brad or KK behind our team and everything changes. Just the way it is. Oh well, that’s sports. We need someone to come good as we have a bunch of prospects, and I don’t think Slonina is it all. We shall see. The floor really has been raised, we just gotta keep pumping’ ‘em out and filling in the ranks, and hope for a few difference makers.
Cardoso out too. Pax for Cardoso?
Tessmann, US Soccer put out announcement.
Leave Pax alone! He looks like he truly has turned a corner these last few matches.
Finally getting it, and playing loose and confident. Why break that up?
I know a few have been hard on Johnny for his last few Bettis matches but reports he was playing hurt were obviously true. He looked slow and his movement was way off. He was one of the guys I really wanted to see with regards to what Poch would do with him. Looks like a bunch of our players are moving up to middlish class. That’s fine. Keep raising the floor and creating comp. We nee more difference makers of course, who doesn’t, but we will start producing a few with how our youth system is now working. Of course Cole Campbell can just decide to break out this year. Fingers crossed.
Are we going to get a replacement for Weah?
And now Balogun. Both are out.
Luna for Weah makes the most sense.
Looks like Sargent has his window.
Zendajas and Paxten with a better chance than Luna I think based on the rest of the roster.
Just announced Zendajas, Tessmann, and Vazquez. Flo, Timo, and Johnny not fit.
JR,
“Just announced Zendajas, Tessmann, and Vazquez. ”
