Josh Sargent heads into USMNT camp fresh off latest goalscoring performance

Josh Sargent will be entering October’s U.S. men’s national team camp on good form.

Sargent scored his fourth EFL Championship goal of the season on Saturday as Norwich City defeated Hull City 4-0 at Carrow Road. The USMNT forward was one of four different players to find the back of the net in Saturday’s home triumph for the Canaries.

Marcelino Nunez opened the scoring for Norwich City in the 16th minute before Sargent doubled the hosts lead four minutes later. Sargent tapped home in the middle of the Hull City box for a 2-0 lead.

Kaide Gordon and Borja Sainz added to the scoreline in the second half, padding Norwich City’s shutout result.

Sargent now has 36 career goals for Norwich City in 108 appearances. He moved to 14th on the club’s all-time scoring ranks with his Saturday tally.

Norwich City are now seventh in the EFL Championship table heading into the October international break.

The Missori native now heads into USMNT camp with aspirations to feature against Panama and Mexico.

  1. the question becomes is he really healthy, because we’ve heard and seen before how in form he’s been, leading to callups in the last 2 USMNT camps, only for him not to see the field because of niggling injuries?!

  2. Balogun scored again yesterday 3 consecutive goals, but unfortunately sustained some tyoe of upper body injury. Hopefully it’s not serious.

Paxten Aaronson scored again yesterday that makes two goals in his last two games playing at CM.

    • Joel Imausen with his 7th of the season. He’s just a couple months too old for the U20s unfortunately. Still just in the 4th division, but he’s scoring almost one per match 7 in 9.

  3. He’s doing good but Sargent needs to sharpen up his “one touch shots”, quicken his mental processing / decision-making in front of goal and shorten the period between receiving the ball and releasing his shots to make it to the next level. That’s why teams see so much potential in this kid because they know all he needs to develop is his finishing. He missed a penalty and bungled a perfect OPEN through ball that needed a one-time shot on goal….but again he took an extra touch!!!!.
This could have been an easy hattrick for Sargent

  4. Having a very good season so far. 4 goals and 3 assists in 9 games. Extrapolate that out, if he can stay healthy, and he is going to be over 20 goals this season.
