The U.S. women’s national team’s final 2024 match will take place against a familiar European foe.
Emma Hayes’ squad will visit the Netherlands on December 3 in their final match of the year, U.S. Soccer announced Thursday. ADO Den Haag Stadium in The Hague will serve as the host venue for the friendly.
The match will come three days after the USWNT faces England at Wembley Stadium on November 30.
“It was a fantastic summer for our team, and we’re going to take a lot of great lessons and memories from our time in France, but now we are looking forward to continuing our process,” said Hayes. “And in order for our team to keep learning and growing, and for the coaching staff to continue to evaluate players, we need to play the best teams possible. Playing matches in Europe against some of the world’s top teams will be an important part of our journey.”
It will mark the first matchup between the USWNT and Netherlands since the teams played out a 1-1 draw at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The Americans also defeated the Dutch 2-0 at the 2019 World Cup Final in France and on penalty kicks at the 2021 Olympics.
The USWNT enjoyed quick success under Hayes, winning the Gold Medal at the 2023 Olympics in Paris, France.
