Americans Abroad Weekend Rewind: Adams, Pulisic, and more

AFC Bournemouth are continuing to defy the odds in the English Premier League this season and Tyler Adams has been at the forefront of their recent success.

Adams registered two assists on Saturday as the host Cherries defeated Nottingham Forest 5-0 on the South Coast. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder logged his latest 90 minutes in Andoni Iraola’s starting lineup, excelling as Bournemouth earned another impressive home win.

Adams was credited for the assist on Bournemouth’s opening goal after nine minutes, passing to Justin Kluivert before watching the Dutch international do the rest with a fantastic finish.

Bournemouth continued to pad its lead in the second half with Adams again having a say on its third goal of the match. This time Adams laid off a pass to Dango Ouattara, who found the back of the net for a 3-0 lead.

The Cherries would add two additional goals before the final whistle, capping off a memorable home victory.

Adams, 25, looks to be finally back to his best on the midfield and Bournemouth is certainly relishing having him back.

Bournemouth’s 12-match unbeaten run will be put to the test on February 1 with league-leading Liverpool coming to the Vitality Stadium.

Elsewhere in England, Chris Richards and Crystal Palace lost at home to Brentford.

In Italy, Christian Pulisic returned and scored from the penalty spot in AC Milan’s win. Yunus Musah also impressed in the result.

In Germany, Joe Scally excelled as Borussia Moenchengladbach defeated Bochum. John Tolkin made his Holstein Kiel debut.

In Spain, Johnny Cardoso went the distance as Real Betis defeated Mallorca.

Elsewhere, Alex Zendejas earned Man of the Match honors against Santos Laguna. Jonathan Tomkinson made his first start for Ross County. Cade Cowell started in Chivas’ home draw. Marlon Fossey and Standard Liege picked up three points in Belgium. Ricardo Pepi scored in PSV’s Eredivisie victory.

  1. I continue to be amazed and PROUD of our “Yanks Abroad”! I have been on this site since year one and this list continues to grow NOT ONLY in length but in activity for the players listed.

It’s one thing to go abroad. It’s another thing to make an impact after you’ve gone. So very proud of these cats!

  2. Big matches for both Leeds and Venezia on Monday.
    ——————
Venezia hosts Verona. Venezia trails 18th Verona by 4 pts currently, they can’t go down 7, they’d also only be 2 back from safety and 17th Lecce.
    ——————-
Leeds goes to Burnley. Win and be 6 pts up on 3rd place, lose and be tied with Burnley (probably ahead on points).

    • Venezia blew it late, this wasn’t a must win but 3 of there last 4 have been against 14th, 16th, and 17th and they drew them all. That didn’t lose ground obviously but they are running out of beatable competition to gain points with.
      —————
Leeds missed a chance to gain some distance. They need an infusion of offense, like maybe in the form of a feisty yet technical #10 with big … heart named Diego Luna. Have heard not a whisper from the Leeds channels about this in weeks seems unlikely for January.

      • JR,
What is Norwalk’s finest, Luca Koleosho up to these days now that the Cupcake boys have stolen his thunder?

If he doesn’t make it and Hartford’s Agyemang, who played for Eastern fucking Connecticut and later transferred to URI NE, makes it. at least Connecticut will have someone on the team.

      • V: 2g 0a on the season was starting but since mid-December has been coming off the bench mostly. He hasn’t scored since September. Played 14 minutes for Italy’s U21 team in October to finish U21 Euros qualifying but was not called in November for friendlies. U21 Euros take place this summer in June. By participating in qualifying Luca would have to file a switch to play for anyone else. I see him playing for Canada in 2026 because I think that’s the only roster he makes.
