For the first time in 370 days, Daryl Dike played in a competitive match for West Bromwich Albion.
Dike made his first appearance of the season on Saturday in West Brom’s 1-1 EFL Championship draw with Millwall. It was Dike’s first appearance for the Baggies since February 10, 2024.
Jake Cooper propelled Millwall in front after 19 minutes but West Brom tied the match seven minutes later through Joe Bryan’s own goal.
Dike came on the 77th minute and came close to assisting on West Brom’s go-ahead goal.
However, the two teams would split the points.
Dike won two duels and made three clearances.
The U.S. men’s national team forward missed ample time over the past year due to multiple injuries. His return is a promising sight for West Brom and the USMNT.
West Brom next hosts Oxford United on Feb. 22.
Glad to see him back and I love how West Brom is patient with him.
I can imagine how frustrated and impatient- eager to jump in he must be, but please- don’t rush. Steady, slowly regain strength, flexibility, stability, supporting/accessory muscles,. I hope manager, trainers, everyone around him are there to support as well as hold him back when need be- protect him from the impulse to make up for lost time.
I’m not going to give up on Daryl Dike until Daryl Dike gives up on Daryl Dike.
Welcome back Dike! If all can stay healthy and all producing going into the WC Pochettino may have a headache of selection on his hands. Considering Damian Downs is starting to flourish too.
