Americans Abroad Weekend Preview: Carter-Vickers, McKennie, and more

Celtic’s quest to win a domestic treble continues on Saturday with Brendan Rodgers’ squad welcoming Hibernian to Glasgow.

Cameron Carter-Vickers and Celtic aim to book their spot into the Scottish Cup semifinals with a victory on home soil. Carter-Vickers has jumped back into the starting lineup for Celtic this winter and hasn’t looked back. The 26-year-old has made 34 appearances across all competitions, helping Celtic to a 16-point lead at the top of the league table, and a win in the League Cup Final over Rangers last December.

Carter-Vickers remains Celtic’s best centerback option and should remain in the starting lineup bearing any major changes.

Celtic has defeated Hibernian in three of their four previous encounters this season, but lost 2-1 at Easter Road in February.

In Italy, Weston McKennie and Juventus take on Atalanta in Serie A play. Gianluca Busio and Venezia face Como.

In England, Antonee Robinson and Fulham visit Brighton & Hove Albion. Tyler Adams and Bournemouth travel to Tottenham.

In Germany, Joe Scally and Borussia Moenchengladbach take on Lennard Maloney and Mainz.

In France, Tanner Tessmann and Lyon visit Nice in Ligue 1 action.

In Spain, Johnny Cardoso and Real Betis remain at home against Las Palmas.

    • Well sort of, he’s joining their Academy in July and will start with the U17s. He’s a CB so it will likely be several years before any first team minutes, teenager CBs aren’t very common in Serie A. Still a big deal for a kid born and raised in New Jersey. Sullivan with Man City, Albert with Dortmund, and now Mbaye with AC Milan all ‘09s.

      • Tillman maybe late March or April, I’m pretty sure they said Pepi was done for the year. The Scuffed Podcast had a PSV reporter on a couple weeks ago and he said the Netherlands has strict medical privacy laws so clubs can’t give out very specific injury reports. So who really knows. From what Tillman said in February he was going to be doing his rehab in Germany thru at least February.
