Westerlo missed out on European Football last season and will aim to get off to a winning start in Belgian league play this weekend.
Bryan Reynolds, Griffin Yow and the rest of their Westerlo teammates will kick off Pro League play on Sunday against Anderlecht. Both Reynolds and Yow have been linked with summer exits but remain on the squad heading into Matchday No. 1.
Reynolds, 24, made 37 league appearances last season, scoring one goal and adding three assists. The former FC Dallas defender has continued to play a large role at right back and remains in the running to start there again this season.
Yow, a former DC United product, scored eight goals and registered three assists in 33 league appearances. The 22-year-old has been on the radar of several European clubs this summer while Westerlo has already put a new contract on the table for Yow to sign.
Both players could very well be sporting different colors by summer’s end, however, for now they will aim for starting roles against Anderlecht.
Elsewhere in Belgium, Marlon Fossey and Standard Liege kick off their competitive schedule.
In Mexico, Alex Zendejas, Cade Cowell, and Richie Ledezma continue Liga MX action.

I’m still puzzled as to why Reynold’s and Yow weren’t included in the GC roster. There must be something about Reynold’s game that the federation is simply not seeing enough of, considering he was also left off of the Olympic team roster. Any thoughts on those 2 being ignored, specifically Reynold’s?
Other friendly action
-Dest played well facing off against Nico Williams and holding his own. Pepi did not dress as he continues his recovery.
– Trusty scored off a corner kick. CCV was back after off season knee surgery.
– Puli-assist to Leao
-Paredes with the assist on the game winner
Cavan Sullivan scored 16 minutes into his Man City U21 debut. They were playing some 5th division side, but a goals a goal. The first team training starts Monday so not sure if or how much training he’ll do with them, before returning to Philly.
Poch was in Spain to watch Damion Downs. Downs scored a goal in his first minutes for Southampton. Of course it was also Espanyol vs Southampton Poch’s first two clubs he managed.
