Americans Abroad Weekend Rewind: Pulisic, Agyemang, and more

Christian Pulisic’s hot run of form continues Sunday as AC Milan picked up a major win in Serie A play.

Pulisic registered one goal and one assist as the Rossoneri defeated Napoli 2-1 at the San Siro. It marked the latest impactful performance from Pulisic in club action this season.

It was a fast start from Pulisic, who teed up Alexis Saelemaekers in the third minute. Pulisic raced upfield to keep a pass inbounds before crossing across the box to a wide open Saelemaekers.

After setting up the opener, Pulisic doubled the Rossoneri’s lead in the 31st minute. A clever team play eventually was capped off with Pulisic’s one-time finish, giving the U.S. men’s national team star his sixth goal of the season in all competitions.

Despite Napoli cutting the deficit, AC Milan held on for a crucial three points at home. Pulisic played 59 minutes as AC Milan moved to the top of the Serie A table with 12 points.

Up next for the Rossoneri is a trip to Juventus on October 5.

In England, Chris Richards and Crystal Palace defeated Liverpool in a battle of Premier League unbeaten sides. Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams both featured in a head-to-head Premier League draw. Patrick Agyemang registered his second assist for Derby County.

Elsewhere in Italy, Weston McKennie and Yunus Musah both featured off of the bench in Juventus’ draw with Atalanta.

In France, Tim Weah and Marseille used a late comeback to defeat Strasbourg. Korbin Shrader registered a hat trick in Lyon’s lopsided victory over PSG.

In Germany, Malik Tillman and Bayer Leverkusen got the better of James Sands and St. Pauli. Gio Reyna did not dress for Borussia Moenchengladbach while Joe Scally registered two assists.

Cameron Carter-Vickers and Celtic were left frustrated in a goal-less draw with Hibernian. Bryan Reynolds started but Westerlo suffered a road defeat at Union St. Gilloise. • Nice. Thats Pulisic like numbers before Pulisic was brought up to the first team for Dortmund. Will we see Albert soon with Dortmunds first team?

      Reply
      • Kovac was asked about that last week and it didn’t sound like it was in the plans in the near future. Dortmund let Pulisic and Reyna participate in U17 WC before debuting them up. They also let Jadon Sancho go play the group stage before recalling him. I would say not anytime before the winter break for sure. Mathis would be younger than all of those guys should he debut this season so I wouldn’t be surprised if he stays the entire year with U19s. If there are a lot of injuries at his position that could change there are a number of guys Kovac will play out of position on the wing as Cole Campbell can tell you.

      • JR,

Why does it seem like BVB does not rate Campbell the same way they rated CP, Gio and now this Albert person?

Their interest in Campbell seems more “let’s make sure we don’t let one get away for nothing” interest His talent is not in question but it seems like they are sure he’s going to need more time to make an impact than he certainly thinks he does.

    • He’s been working a long time on being an overnight success.

His primary talent was what I have seen described as his ability to disrupt a defense. You could see signs of this at Chelsea.

He just needed a run of good health , a manager who believed in him , a reasonable amount of luck and a club good enough to win things but in need of someone like CP to get to where they needed to be.

That’s not too much to ask is it?

CP and Milan have a long way to go but hopefully, they wind up winning something of note.

hey Vacqui, a manager who truly believes in you is paramount or else it’s always something else and, you know, no that

I remember when he went here, some of us harped on that point. I think it is The key here myself
