Americans Abroad Weekend Preview: Pulisic faces McKennie, and more

Two U.S. men’s national team players seeking a strong conclusion before the October international break are Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie.

Pulisic and AC Milan take on McKennie and Juventus in Sunday’s headlining Serie A showdown. Pulisic has helped the Rossoneri to a current first-place spot in Italy’s top-flight, leading the club with four goals and two assists. The 27-year-old has registered a goal contribution in each of his last three appearances as AC Milan have won all three of those matches.

Pulisic is riding one of the best forms of his club career and AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri will be confident in his star forward leading the way again on Sunday against his former club.

Fourth-place Juventus enter the match fresh off of a 2-2 midweek draw with Villarreal in UEFA Champions League play.

McKennie has struggled to play a large role in the opening month, making just three starts in his five appearances. The 27-year-old midfielder played 32 minutes off of the bench in the Bianconeri’s 1-1 league draw with Atalanta last weekend before logging a full 90 minutes midweek in Spain.

While Pulisic’s role for club and country looks very bright, McKennie is trying to boost his heading into 2026.

Elsewhere in England, Chris Richards and Crystal Palace take on Everton. Brenden Aaronson and Leeds United host Tottenham. Haji Wright and Coventry City face off with Ethan Horvath and Sheffield Wednesday.

In Germany, Malik Tillman and Bayer Leverkusen host Union Berlin. James Sands and St. Pauli visit Werder Bremen. Joe Scally and Borussia Moenchengladbach host Freiburg seeking a bounce-back win.

In France, Tim Weah and Marseille take on Metz in Ligue 1 play.

Elsewhere, Bryan Reynolds and Westerlo face OH Leuven in Belgian league play. Rokas Pukstas and Hajduk Split visit Vukovar 91. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Celtic face off with Motherwell while Dante Polvara and Aberdeen take on Dundee FC. Jordan Pefok and Tondela visit Rio Ave in Portuguese league action. 1. Weahbstarting at RB/RWB. Looking like De Zerbi likes him there. Another potential spot to get Weah on the field for the USMNT. Considering Dest still isnt at his best at RB. Weah, A. Freeman, Dest, Aefsten, Wiley, Scally and A.Rob is a pretty good collection of wingbacks for Poch to select from come WC.

Wiley started at LWB again for Watford. Watford with a win today helping them climb the table.
