16 matches after his last EFL Championship goal for Norwich City, Josh Sargent was back on the scoresheet.
Sargent scored his seventh goal of the season across all competitions despite the Canaries’ 3-2 road loss to Watford on Saturday. The American forward delivered a header in the 11th minute at Vicarage Road, but ultimately watched Watford peg Norwich City back twice before grabbing an eventual winning goal.
Sargent, who last scored at club level back on August 30, logged one of his better 90-minute outings of recent time. The 25-year-old registered two shots on target, won four duels, drew one foul, and made two tackles.
However, Norwich City’s third defeat out of its past five matches have them sitting five points from safety in the relegation zone.
Up next for Philippe Clement’s squad is a trip to Sheffield United midweek before returning to Carrow Road next weekend for a showdown with in-form Southampton.
In England, Brenden Aaronson came off the bench to assist once in Leeds United’s thrilling home draw with Liverpool. Haji Wright returned for Coventry City but the Sky Blues lost at Ipswich Town. Emily Fox assisted once in Arsenal’s win over Liverpool in WSL play.

In France, Mark McKenzie and Toulouse claimed three points at home. Lily Yohannes went the distance in Lyon’s return to league action. Eva Gaetino and PSG also did the same in PSG’s lopsided victory over Marseille.
Elsewhere, George Bello assisted once in LASK’s road draw with Hartberg while Dante Polvara delivered a strong performance in Aberdeen’s road win over Dundee FC. Lots of new positives this weekend. Reyna, Banks and Pepi starting and producing for their respective clubs. Just keep hoping A. Robinson gets fit sooner rather than later.
PN, assuming a healthy Arob, how do you see him fitting into Poch’s scheme? Poch’s fortunes changed when he went to 3 CBs; before he did that things were pretty bleak. Do you see him as a centerback or fighting for a spot as an outside halfback in the 3-4-2-1, or something else entirely?
Pepi tren picking up more speed. He wants that starting WC spot.
Mathis Albert made his debut with Dortmund II. 30 minutes looked fine in the highlights.
Awesome! That puts him one step closer to getting bumped up to Dortmund I…and then not played.
I remember the days when Dortmund was arguably the top club in the world at developing young players. I’d be genuinely curious to know what happened to them.
quozzel,
“I’d be genuinely curious to know what happened to them.”
Not a lot. They are still developing a lot of good players. They just are not Americans.
Your American bias is showing. Being an American at BVB does not guarantee that you will do as well as Christian or Gio ( pre injury and Reynagate). And remains to be seen where your favorite diva shitbag, Gio, winds up. Cole Campbell has been a disappointment to those of you who expected him to be a star winger for Pochettino at the World Cup (it’s not too late) but he’s still young and everyone develops at their own pace.
BVB are a little bit the victim of their own success. To expect a club to keep turning out a Haaland and a Jude while also developing lesser lights like CP and Sancho and many others is not realistic.
