USWNT to face Chile in home January friendly

The U.S. women’s national team’s second match of 2026 has been finalized.

Chile will oppose Emma Hayes’ squad on January 27 from Harder Stadium in Santa Barbara, California, U.S. Soccer announced Tuesday. The match will come three days after the USWNT’s opens its schedule with a friendly against Paraguay at Dignity Health Sports Park on Jan. 24.

The trip to Harder Stadium will be the USWNT’s first since 1991.

“One of the goals of U.S. Soccer is to take our National Teams to new markets around the country, and I applaud that,” said Hayes.

“Playing in a city for the first time is not a common occurrence at this point in our history so I know our players will enjoy being in beautiful Santa Barbara and our staff are really looking forward to January camp and these matches against two tough South American countries. This is the start of an important year for our team and as always, we’re focused on maximizing every minute we get with the players.”

The USWNT will hold a training camp from Carson, California starting Jan. 17 which will also include the two aforementioned friendlies.

Chile is currently ranked 45th in the world and fifth among South America nations behind Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and Paraguay. January’s friendly will mark the most recent meeting between the two sides since a 3-0 USWNT victory at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The USWNT are gearing up for a busy 2026 with World Cup Qualifying on the horizon later that year.
