Americans Abroad Midweek Preview: Weah, Robinson, and more

Tim Weah and Marseille has its first opportunity to lift silverware this season on Thursday, with the American squaring off against his former club.

Marseille faces Paris Saint-Germain in the French Super Cup Final in Kuwait in the second meeting between the two clubs this season. Roberto De Zerbi’s men defeated the reigning Ligue 1 champions 1-0 back in September and will fancy their chances in a one-off against the current league leaders.

Weah has made 20 appearances this season, scoring two goals and adding two assists. The U.S. men’s national team winger has featured heavily in his first season with the club, showing his versatility each week.

After suffering a weekend defeat at home to Nantes, Weah and his Marseille teammates will surely be seeking a bounce-back performance.

In Spain, Johnny Cardoso and Atletico Madrid take on Real Madrid in Spanish Super Cup action.
