Malik Tillman scores third goal in four days for Bayer Leverkusen

It’s certainly been a week to remember for Malik Tillman.

Tillman scored his third goal in the past four days on Saturday as Bayer Leverkusen defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 3-1 in Bundesliga action. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder now has six goals on the season, with three of those coming in the past week for Kasper Hjulmand’s squad.

Arthur opened the scoring for Leverkusen in the 26th minute before Tillman doubled the visitors lead seven minutes later. Christian Kofane’s lay off pass allowed Tillman to drill a right-footed shot into the bottom-right corner for a 2-0 Leverkusen lead.

Despite Robin Koch pulling one goal back for Frankfurt after halftime, Aleix Garcia iced Leverkusen’s victory with an insurance goal in second-half stoppage time.

Tillman played 82 minutes from his central midfield position, earning his 24th appearance of the campaign in all competitions.

Bayer Leverkusen will now turn its attention towards Tuesday’s DFB Pokal quarterfinal tie vs. St. Pauli, seeking a fifth-consecutive victory.

  1. Keyrol Figueroa to Porto seems unlikely. He signed a new contract with Liverpool. They are looking to loan him somewhere. That was very premature reporting about the Porto loan with option to buy.

    • My bad he is expected to sign a new contract with Liverpool. They are set to lose him for free this summer, and dont want him to leave for nothing. Highly unlikely he ever gets into the Liverpool first team, but could be sold for a substantial fee if he does well on loan the rest of this season and next season. Looks likely he will be loaned the remainder of the season to a league 1 side. Next season probably a Championship side.

  2. Very well taken. Almost had an assist as well. I still think Malik needs to start taking over games a bit more. Definitely has the ability too.

    • It’s first season playing at this level consistently, so what he’s shown so far has been great tbh. I think he’ll continue to get more comfortable and add to his tally of goals and assists, but next season I think is when we really see him take off and be the player Bayern L thought he could be

    • Have you had a chance to watch him or just highlights?
I haven’t had a chance to watch him play.
How does he line up, as a pure 10? Out wide?
I get better analysis here than most of the so called pundits
