Sources: Dante Polvara to join St. Louis CITY SC in permanent transfer

Dante Polvara’s time in Scotland is coming to an end.

Polvara has agreed to join MLS club St. Louis CITY SC from Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen in a permanent transfer, sources have confirmed to SBI. Aberdeen are set to receive a transfer fee of close to $200,000, sources added.

Polvara has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year contract which will run through 2028. The contract will also include a club option for 2029.

Aberdeen had offered Polvara a contract extension earlier this season as his contract was set to run through May. Fellow SPFL side Hibernian was also interested in making a deal for Polvara during the January Transfer Window.

Polvara, 25, had originally joined Aberdeen in 2021 straight after his collegiate career at the University of Connecticut. After making just 11 appearances for the club over parts of two seasons, the former Mac Hermann award winner was loaned to USL side Charleston Battery in 2023.

He later returned to Aberdeen that summer and delivered his best season to date, scoring four goals and adding five assists in 40 appearances.

Since then, Polvara scored one goal and added two assists in 42 combined appearances from 2024-26.

He was not part of the squad for last weekend’s 6-2 league win over Livingston as negotiations between Aberdeen and St. Louis continued.

Former St. Louis CITY SC sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel is currently part of the Aberdeen front office.

St. Louis failed to reach the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2025, finishing 13th in the 15-club Western Conference.
