Weston McKennie scores to ride positive form into 2026

Weston McKennie’s positive form for Serie A side Juventus has carried over into 2026.

McKennie scored his second goal of the campaign in the Bianconeri’s 1-1 league draw with Lecce on Saturday. It marked the fourth match out of the past six overall in which McKennie registered a goal contribution.

Lameck Banda propelled the visitors in front 1-0 in first-half stoppage time, forcing Juventus to rally in order to rescue one point.

McKennie needed just four minutes to tie the match though, showing great composure in the box. Kenan Yildiz’s cross from the left wing was gathered by McKennie in the box before the veteran midfielder slotted home Juventus’ equalizer.

McKennie played 83 minutes in the match as the 27-year-old netted his 20th-career goal for the club.

Juventus had a golden chance to walk away with a home win but Canadian forward Jonathan David saw a penalty kick denied after the hour mar. The Bianconeri saw their four-match winning run ended in the process.

Up next for Luciano Spalletti’s men is a trip to Sassuolo on January 6 before they return home against Cremonese on Jan. 12.

  1. McKennie continues to show up week in and out, and against the back drop of consistently being thought of as “over staying his welcome” seemingly every season…..pretty impressive stuff tbh, and he’s currently on a run of form we haven’t seen in a while

    • SBI is always framing it like Weston is some poor victim of anti-american prejudice.

      What bullshit.

      We just left 2025.

Weston McKennie has been at Juventus since August 2020. He has had five different permanent managers and two caretaker managers.

      Andrea Pirlo August 2020 – May 2021
      Massimiliano Allegri July 2021 – May 2024
Paolo Montero (caretaker) May 2024 – June 2024
      Thiago Motta July 2024 – March 2025
      Igor Tudor March 2025 – October 2025
      Massimo Brambilla (caretaker) October 2025
Luciano Spalletti October 2025 – Present

That’s a frikin merry go round of godamn managers in a very short period of time. All of them under high pressure and on short leases

So please lay this ” “overstaying his welcome” bullshit to rest. There are no other Americans left at Juve so we can’t give them the same sad narrative of Americans having to constantly prove themselves because they are Americans.

And if Pochettino has proven anything,it might be that some of our entitled soft players need the pressure of losing their jobs to reach and maintain their consistent best.

Some players need a pat on the back, others need a kick in the ass. Weston has shown what he needs.

      • Every one of those managers quickly discovered Wes was a vital part of the starting XI. Most of the “strife” has come from the board mostly related to contract issues and Juventus’ overspending. Wes doesn’t score a ton of goals or have a ton of assists so when they are looking for cash the suits think Wes has good value and mid-high salary let’s see if we can get some cash for him. Interestingly Cory Gibbs, yes the NT CB that got injured before WC 2006 and was replaced by Gregg Berhalter, Wes’s agent, denied that a deal was close but being held up by agent fees. Saying it was completely false. This rumor has come up on multiple occasions over the years when Wes’s contract is being negotiated as if maybe it’s a standard leak Juve puts out to try to gain the advantage.
