USWNT blanks Argentina to open SheBelieves Cup schedule

The U.S. women’s national team opened its SheBelieves Cup schedule in winning fashion on Sunday night.

Lindsey Heaps and Jaedyn Shaw both scored as Emma Hayes’ squad defeated Argentina 2-0 at GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee. Goalkeeper Claudia Dickey made one save to preserve the Americans’ third shutout of 2026.

The lone worry of the match was Trinity Rodman going down in second-half stoppage time after catching a knee to the lower back in a challenge with Argentina’s Milagros Martin. Rodman was down for several minutes before eventually being helped up by the USWNT medical staff.

Heaps propelled the USWNT in front after 19 minutes, curling a left-footed shot into the top-left corner.

It marked Heaps’ 39th-career international goal.

The Americans would double their lead 11 minutes into the second half as Shaw scored her first goal of 2026. Heaps laid off a pass to Shaw inside of the Argentina box before the forward curled a right-footed shot into the far corner.

Rodman was among six substitutions made by Hayes in the match, which also included Emily Fox, Alyssa Thompson, and Ally Sentnor. The win marked the Americans’ third of the new year, which extended their goal differential to +13 over their opponents this winter.

The USWNT’s SheBelieves Cup schedule continues on Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio against Canada.
