CF Montreal parts ways with head coach Marco Donadel

CF Montreal’s worrying start to the 2026 MLS season has led to a major decision made by the front office.

Marco Donadel has been fired as head coach of the Canadian club, CF Montreal announced Saturday night following a 2-1 home loss to the Philadelphia Union. Assistant coaches Jacopo Falanga and Lorenzo Pinzauti were also relieved of their duties.

Philippe Eullaffroy will assume the team’s head coaching responsibilities until a permanent head coach is hired, the club also announced.

Donadel previously served as interim head coach of CF Montreal in 2025 following Laurent Courtois’ firing in March. He was later named as permanent head coach at the end of the season, but struggled to have the club moving up the Eastern Conference standings this spring.

CF Montreal has only won one of its opening seven MLS matches in 2026, dropping to 14th place following Saturday’s loss.

Donadel previously played for CF Montreal from 2015-18 before later beginning his coaching career in his native Italy.
