Tyler Adams “ready to go” for final stretch of Bournemouth’s season

Tyler Adams did not take part in the U.S. men’s national team’s March window but looks set to return to action for AFC Bournemouth this weekend.

Adams said he is “ready to go” as the Cherries prepare for Saturday’s return to English Premier League play against league-leading Arsenal. The USMNT midfielder was not called in for international friendlies against Belgium and Portugal due to a slight injury, but is back available at club level.

A healthy Adams is a great sign for Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola as well as USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

“I was here for the international break,” Adams said Thursday in a club interview. “Unfortunately, I didn’t get to go and catch up with the U.S. team. I had to watch from afar but it was good to be here with the boys that stayed behind and get some good training in. I am feeling strong and ready to go.

“It also gave me a period of time to get stronger, get more fit and focus on the objectives with the boys here,” he added. The guys that stayed behind focused on training, focused on staying sharp, staying fit in preparation for a big game this weekend.”

Adams, 27, has made 19 appearances for the Cherries this season, but missed time during the second half due to a knee injury he suffered last December. The veteran midfielder has scored two goals and added one assist and could very well to those totals by season’s end.

Bournemouth has drawn each of its last five league matches, riding an 11-match unbeaten streak into Saturday’s trip to the Emirates Stadium. The Cherries sit 13th in the league table and are only six points back of sixth-place Chelsea with seven matches to play.

Having Adams back for the final stretch of matches could be key in Bournemouth potentially sealing a European spot, especially with the New York native remaining confident in his abilities to contribute.

“I’m feeling consistent, I’m feeling strong now and I think it’s just important to finish the season strong,” Adams said.
