Christian Pulisic “not concerned” about goalscoring drought ahead of USMNT’s World Cup

Christian Pulisic may be in the midst of the longest goalscoring drought of his club career but the U.S. men’s national team star isn’t letting it bring him down.

Pulisic has not scored for Serie A side AC Milan since December 28, 2025, heading into the Rossoneri’s final three matches of the season. The 27-year-old has continued to earn opportunities under Milan boss Max Allegri this spring, but has found it tough to deliver much in the final third as the Rossoneri aims to lock down a top-four spot.

In addition to his club struggles, Pulisic will also enter the USMNT’s May window seeking his first international goal since November 2024, another unwanted career-long for the Pennsylvania native.

Although it has been one of the toughest spells of Pulisic’s club and international career, he remains confident that goals will come and things will go back to normal.

“Such bad questions,” said Pulisic in an interview with Time Magazine. “I’m not concerned about it, man. I plan on scoring goals.

“At the end of the day, if we go in and have a good World Cup, it’ll be all forgotten,” Pulisic added. “Everyone will talk about how great we do. That’s just the way things go.”

Pulisic remains the USMNT’s key leader heading into the World Cup, a first on U.S. soil since 1994. After earning his first taste of World Cup action in Qatar back in 2022, the bright lights will be on Pulisic and the USMNT to deliver a positive showing at the summer competition, especially under well-known head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Weston McKennie has been part of the growth of U.S. Soccer during Pulisic’s time with the program, watching his teammate and close friend endure some rough moments for both club and country. Despite Pulisic’s worrying run of form heading into the World Cup though, McKennie knows things will turn around for him on the world’s biggest stage.

“I don’t think any of us are worried whether he’s going to be firing on all cylinders,” McKennie said. “Because at the end of the day, he always wants to do his best for us, for him, for the fans, for the country. It may not be clicking for him right now. But I have no doubt it will be at the World Cup.”

Both Pulisic and McKennie have three Serie A matches left before joining up with their USMNT teammates for final World Cup tune-ups against Senegal and Germany this month.

  1. His slump before Qatar was not as bad but he had 1g 2a in the fall of 2022, and was playing mostly bench minutes for Chelsea before playing well in World Cup. It’s too bad that he has ruined AC Milan this season and may cost them a CL birth with the world’s greatest manager Max Allegri, who has pushed all right buttons this year.

    • JR,

Is that what you call being held accountable?

That’s not nearly enough. Not even close.

HE should be cut from the WC team and made to pay back this season’s salary.

      • Did I mention his scoring draught allowed Iran to develop a nuclear weapons program. Also the traditional media isn’t reporting the reason for his struggle is exhaustion because he developed a Time Machine which he used to go back in time to empty Al Capone’s vault of its treasure. Soccer by day, hauling millions across time by night. Thus he has broken the hearts of Milan fans everywhere and ruined the professional credibility of journalists Geraldo Rivera. Ruining lives in the 1980s and 2020s. Sad.
