Division 1 Feminine winners Lyon completed its domestic double on Sunday with U.S. women’s national team midfielder Lindsey Heaps getting on the scoresheet.
Heaps scored Lyon’s fourth and final goal on Sunday in a 4-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain. The veteran midfielder played the full 90 minutes as Lyon picked up its second trophy out of three available this season.
It was a dominant first half for Lyon, who took a 3-0 lead into halftime.
Melchie Dumornay scored Lyon’s opening goal after 23 minutes before Vicki Becho added a brace in a five-minute span ahead of the interval.
Merveille Kanjinga pulled one back for PSG in the 63rd minute to trim the deficit to 3-1 but Heaps would have the final say before the final whistle. Heaps raced around the PSG backline before volleying home Selma Bacha’s free kick into the back of the net.
It marked Heaps’ fifth goal of the season across all competitions.
Heaps went the distance for Lyon while Lily Yohannes played 66 minutes and Korbin Shrader logged 24 minutes off the bench. It marked the latest match that the USWNT trio all featured in together.
Heaps now has won 10 trophies with the club while Yohannes and Shrader have both lifted two apiece in their first season with Lyon.
Lyon will conclude its league schedule at home against Nantes on May 16 before taking on Barcelona in the Women’s Champions League Final seven days later in Norway.
