Sporting KC recorded yet another high-scoring home win, this time in a 4-3 affair vs. the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Paulo Nagamura’s goals in the 87th and 94th minutes sealed the win for Kansas City, while Sporting battled back from a 3-1 deficit to claim three points.
Pedro Morales’s 75th-minute free kick from 30 yards found the net past Tim Melia in what looked to seal a win for Vancouver, but Sporting’s comeback began in the 53rd minute when Kevin Ellis brought back a goal to make it 2-1.
Nagamura grabbed the win for Sporting with a strike from 20 yards and a last-second header. Not known for his scoring ability, Nagamura recorded his first ever multi-goal game.
In the 81st minute, Dom Dwyer scored a header goal for a 3-2 score, which was assisted by Krisztian Nemeth.
Kekuta Manneh put Vancouver in the lead going into halftime with two goals from short range, beating Melia at his back post on each. Manneh brought his goal total to six on the season.
The win for Sporting brings the team three points within the Western Conference lead behind LA Galaxy. The Whitecaps fall to second with its loss. Sporting hold an advantage in the West having played the fewest amount of matches, with Sporting holding three games in hand over the Whitecaps and four games in hand on the LA Galaxy.
Manneh truly wants US citizenship. Supposedly he is living in Point Roberts, WA (Google Earth that baby to see how truly unique the place is in terms of being cut off from the USA.)
Also, considering how effective Feilhaber was last night, it’s surprising the USMNT doesn’t take another look at him. It’s not like we’re loaded at that position with that type of player.
Nagamura with two beautiful, clutch goals. Whitecaps D really let their team and keeper down on that last one though, 5′ 8″ Nagamura had way too much space.
Manneh! When is he US eligible?
Supposedly, sometime between August 2016 and December 2017.
