The English Premier League kicks off a new campaign this weekend with Sunday putting two of the top-four hopefuls against one another.

Liverpool visits Chelsea in the headlining match of the weekend as both teams aim to rebound after disappointing 2022-23 seasons. Both clubs made key signings this window after underwhelming seasons and will hope for three points against one another.

Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino will look to restore glory at Chelsea this season as the new manager makes his club debut against Jurgen Klopp’s Reds. Mo Sabah and Nicolas Jackson headline the attacking talent between both teams.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup continues with eight nations left in the race for the most coveted trophy in women’s sports. Japan and Sweden take center stage after both nations clinched Round of 16 victories last weekend.

The Swedes knocked off the USWNT in penalties while Japan cruised past Norway for a 3-1 victory.

Futoshi Ikeda and his side have won all four of their World Cup matches thus far, outscoring their opponents 14-1. Sweden have also been stubborn defensively and will try and silence the in-form Japanese attack.

World Cup action doesn’t stop there as England and Colombia clash in their quarterfinal matchup.

The Lionesses were one of three nations to collect nine points throughout the group stage and continued their winning ways in the Round of 16 by ousting Nigeria 4-2 in penalties.

In Germany, the 32-time Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich take on RB Leipzig in the DFL-Super Cup. RB Leipzig defeated the defending champions 3-1 in their last head-to-head meeting.

After a historic season for Newcastle United, the MagPies will look to build upon last season’s success as Aston Villa visits St. James Park for its season opener. Both teams qualified for European competitions, but for now will aim for a strong start in league play.
