Europe’s top domestic leagues return this weekend with Serie A taking centerstage on Saturday.
SBI’s headlining match takes us to the San Siro, where Italy’s biggest rivalry unfolds with Inter Milan and AC Milan colliding in the first Milan Derby of the new campaign.
Inter Milan remains undefeated ahead of Saturday’s match registering nine points in three matches, similar to its local rival. AC Milan are also undefeated thus far in league play.
The two Milan-based clubs collided on five occasions last season with Inter Milan winning four of the matchups, including two UEFA Champions League semifinal ties and the Supercoppa Italiana Final.
Despite Inter’s domination of the Milan Derby last season, the Rossoneri will be seeking a statement win after defeating AS Roma prior to the international break.
The English Premier League returns this weekend with Brighton & Hove Albion visiting Old Trafford for its match against Manchester United. The Seagulls picked up a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United prior to the International break, while Manchester United suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Arsenal.
Roberto De Zerbi’s men swept the Red Devils in league play last season, winning the first match 2-1 before also claiming a dramatic 1-0 victory.
Despite Brighton’s success in league play, the Seagulls fell to the Red Devils in the FA Cup semifinals last spring.
The Bundesliga also returns this weekend with defending champions Bayern Munich hosting Bayer Leverkusen. Thomas Tuchel’s side are undefeated thus far winning their first three league matches to start the 23-24′ campaign in strong fashion.
Bayer Leverkusen is also unbeaten to start the new campaign and will be seeking a statement win.
In Paris, defending Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain face off with eighth place Nice. Despite collecting only two points in its first two matches this season, PSG’s recent form has propelled the reigning champions into second place ahead of Friday’s match.
MLS carries on with the Philadelphia Union hosting first place FC Cincinnati in a top-table duel. The Union will be seeking revenge after losing to the Eastern Conference leaders 1-0 in April.
