September’s English Premier League schedule comes to a close this weekend with a major top-four clash taking place in London.
Fourth-place Tottenham hosts second-place Liverpool in the headlining clash on Saturday, pitting two of the league’s in-form squads against one another. Ange Postecoglou’s squad are coming off a 2-2 North London Derby draw with rivals Arsenal, one that featured a multi-goal performance from Son Heung-Min.
Liverpool has won of its opening six league matches this season and recently advanced to the Round of 16 in the EFL Cup. Jurgen Klopp will rely heavily on his dynamic attacking unit, which features Mo Salah, Diogo Jota, and Darwin Nunez.
The Reds are unbeaten in their last 12 head-to-head meetings with Tottenham and will be seeking to extend that streak.
In Germany, defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich visits RB Leipzig in a top-table affair. Thomas Tuchel’s men are seeking revenge after falling to RB Leipzig in the DFL Super Cup back in August.
Bayern sits top of the table, having enjoyed an unbeaten start in league play, but RB Leipzig are just one point adrift. English forward Harry Kane leads his new club with seven goals while summer singes Xavi Simons and Lois Openda have three goals apiece for RB Leipzig.
La Liga ventures on with third-place Barcelona going head-to-head with the reigning Europa League champions Sevilla. The two clubs clashed on three separate occasions last season with Barcelona winning all three by a combined score of 9-0.
Serie A also headlines this weekend’s slate with Juventus taking on Atalanta in a top-four showdown. The Old Lady defeated Atalanta in their trip to Gewiss Stadium last season and will hope for a similar outcome Sunday afternoon.
Second place AC Milan also hosts 12th place Lazio in another intriguing Serie A showdown. The Rossoneri registered their second-consecutive league win midweek with U.S. men’s national team star Christian Pulisic registering one assist in a 3-1 road victory over Cagliari.
