Fulham snapped its five-game winless streak on Saturday, and Clint Dempsey was the player to lift the club to victory.
Fulham defeated Wigan Athletic, 2-0, through two first-half goals from Dempsey. The U.S. international, who played all 90 minutes in the win, headed home a Carlos Salcido cross in the 30th minute before knocking another in with a one-time finish just before halftime.
The two goals bring Dempsey's total to four in the Premiership campaign.
Fellow American striker Eddie Johnson did not dress for the match.

man. the more I see Clint score, the more depressed I get. No, not that I don’t like him, he’s my favorite player! (another hiphop loving Texan. haha) Its just that DAMN…why couldn’t Bradley see his skill as a stiker instead of the god-awful Findley experiment at forward in the World Cup?? Not only would Dempsey have converted more opportunities than Windley (no typo), but it would’ve gotten Holden on the field more. siiiigh.
I think the 2nd goal is better because of the pace of the cross and the superb placement. Super awesome for both goals though, great for Deuce!
Still McBride by far according to wikipedia, although I’m not sure what percentage of goals came from cup competitions.
Salcido is quality. Dempsy is our best player. Its good for the region. What the U.S. needs is to match Mex. in U’23 goal scoring talent. Fulham are UEFA cup contenders, especially if the sign Roque Santa Cruz.

I vomited in my mouth a little bit with Dempsey and Salcido head to head…kinda of scary.

seeing the two embrace, it is a trip, but it’s moving too, seeing the mutual respect; they know they can help each other and the team and they MUST work together…and can, evidently. pretty cool to watch this happening with the two of them.

Unfortunately Nick, Arizona does not have the authority to enforce something that is an enumerated power of Congress. Art I, Sec 8. They CAN, however, detain an individual for some other crime other than their status in America and notify the Feds of his status. Otherwise, this is not a state’s rights issue.
You may endorse the ‘help’ AZ is giving to the Feds, but it is ultimately not their authority to stop illegal immigration frankly.
I think Dos Santos plays like a Brazilian. Like most Brazilian players his game is not really suited for the Premier League there games are more suited for La Liga or Serie A. I think Dos Santos would excel for any La Liga team not named Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Personally I root for Mexican players…when they are not playing for Mexico.
I was trying to avoid all the politics flying around, but I can’t. It is the the LAW i have a problem with, enforcing the borders is not the problem. Maybe you can start learning that passing any international border without a passport is illegal? Why you have to bash AZ when they’re just enforcing a law that has been around in this country for hundreds of years?
On topic, nice to see Duce scoring again, but ALL of his goals have come the day after I drop him from my fantasy team. Happened 3 times already. I dropped him yesterday because he hasn’t scored in a few weeks, and I wake up to him scoring 2 goals. Damnit.
It could happen with Altidore there are rumors of Villarreal interested in Dos Santos.
Fantastic goals by Dempsey. With five goals this season already, I think it’s time he permanently moved to the forward position for both club and country.
In regard to the Dempsey-Salcido embrace, I would be far more disturbed if it involved other Mexican players like Blanco or Marquez. As far as I know, Salcido has done nothing to deserve the hatred of all USMNT fans (besides being a Mexican soccer player, of course).

Simply awesome! Love the Mexican/USA love as well. Really cool stuff. We can root against each other when we’re playing each other, but I always root for Mexico when we’re not playing them. Clint’s header was sharp off that cross!
Fred, I am not sure if there are any Mexican’s on their teams, but Altidore celebrated his goal with Spanish and Brazilian players last week.
I wish Altidore, Donovan, Onyewu, Adu, etc.. would celebrate more with Mexicans

Salcido was a great buy for only 2 million pounds. Not too much of a difference between him and Konchesky. Salcido definitely has transitioned clubs much more fluidly than Konch.

Awesome goals, but still weird to see Salcido and Clint. The US and Mexican fans talk trash during USA Mexico games, but it’s all friendly. I suppose the hate was always their problem and not our.
I think there is a lot of respect between the American and Mexican players. A lot of hate mixed in as well though lol
Not a cheap goal out of the lot. Salcido adds a ton to Fulham when he attacks like he did today, I want to see Fulham do well, and Salcido is more than welcome to set Deuce up for more goals.

I think it is great that the salcido and Dempsey are linking up so well this season. We are neighbors and from the same concacaf association, so it’s good to see.

Nope, hating each other like Hatfields and McCoys is disturbing. Hopefully this is the new normal as players from these two insular countries start to experience the rest of the world a bit.

The Mexican Salcido has been solid for Fulham all year. Seeing him and Dempsey celebrate together is very disturbing.
