Just over a week remains in the summer transfer window, and another club has reportedly joined the race to sign Chelsea centerback Matt Miazga before the window shuts.

German outlet Bild says that 1860 Munich is interested in making a move for the U.S. Men’s National Team defender. The 2. Bundesliga club hopes to bring in a central defender before the end of the window, with a loan deal for Miazga being seen as a “conceivable” option. Former Premier League defender Philippe Senderos is also counted among the club’s targets.

The 2. Bundesliga club, former home of USMNT forward Bobby Wood, is just the latest team linked with a move for the former Red Bulls defender. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte hinted in preseason that Miazga could be loaned away from the club in search of more playing time, and both Eintracht Frankfurt and Sunderland have been listed as potential landing spots.

Miazga has not been named to the squad in either of Chelsea’s matches this season and has made just two first team appearances for the English powerhouse.

What do you think of the latest rumor? What clubs do you see as ideal fits for Miazga?

  1. Agree with the comments above. At this point the Miazga’s and Yedlin’s of the US program should be playing and regularly staying for smaller, 1st division teams in England, Germany, Italy.

  2. If Frankfurt is too far from London, then Munich is closer? Just go to Hull or Sunderland so the Chelsea scouts can check up.

  3. Hmmm…I’d prefer for him to play with a smaller Bundesliga or Italian team. There’s no reason to believe he can’t play top flight ball. Not a terrible option though…
