Midfielder Matt Kassel, the top prospect in the Red Bulls youth academy, is training with the Red Bulls’ non-roster invitees today and will have his first chance to impress Red Bulls head coach Juan Carlos Osorio.
The High School All-American and U.S. Under-18 midfielder is considered a good bet to become the first youth academy player signed by the Red Bulls.
Letters of intent are only binding if he goes to college, it only would apply if he signed the letter then tried to go to say Rutgers.
Matt Cassel is the Pats QB, but is assume you knew that.
Matt Kassel, is our academy stud.
I hope Osorio sees the value in signing him, not just as a player but the message it sends to the other kids in the academy right now. Seeing him sign is great incentive for those in the program that they have a chance to make it one day as well.
so does this mean he is not going to maryland where he signed a national letter of intention? could be a sticky situation

I thought Matt Kassel was the backup QB for the Patriots. I guess, since he has no hope of actually playing for the Pats, he’s switching to soccer?
So was Mike Bradley.
IMO, either Kassel is or he isn’t good enough. If he is, sign him up and don’t worry about the detractors. Hopefully, Osorio and Agoos are of like mind. But they will be the one’s making the decision.
Good for him……Although many feel he is quite overrated
