New York Red Bulls vs. CD Guadalajara: Your Running Commentary

Red_bulls_logoChivas_logo

Good evening folks. I’ve made my way back from NYC to Jersey and almost forgot about tonight’s friendly between the New York Red Bulls and Chivas de Guadalajara.

The game is being shown on Telefutura so you can watch the Red Bulls field a young squad in a pointless friendly that is essentially a marketing tool for parent company Red Bull.

If you will be watching the match, and will be online, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below. I will check in during the game, but can’t do a running commentary (at least not to start the match).

Enjoy the match.

  1. Thank you ManicMessiah. I definitely couldn’t follow the games because it started so late EST, but that was good comprehensive running commentary.

  2. A good scrimmage for both teams. The Red Bulls pressured early and had many chances as a result. Gilkerson played very well. I would like to see him play more at left back to push VDB up into the left midfield position. Etch finally showed he can play…granted it was against Chivas young kids but still he showed hustle and desire. Sinisa continues to impress after a lackluster beginning to this season. He truly has come alive the last few games.

  3. “do not take too much out of this win. ”

And, speaking for myself, this is the least important Metro/RBNY game ever. It’s time for the people who excuse away losses by overseas teams to acknowledge that nobody on our side stakes anything on it either, instead of excusing it away as a team who really cared vs a team who didn’t care at all.

Means nothing. Still doesn’t mean I’m not laughing at Chivas, who were too cowardly to fly up to NY for a Merconorte game weeks after 9/11.

  4. Chivas Guadalajara played a young team and did not care for this friendly. They are in their preseason so do not take too much out of this win. If this was a cup then it would be a big deal.
