you are spot on with the no calls against Wallace and Quaranta… there were also (albeit more in the run of play) couple of no calls where DCU defenders planted Brown and Martinez on the turf.

Overall deserved win for the better team in every category.

  2. Solid game for United. Maybe should have had more goals but 3-0 I will take any day. It would be great for Toluca to blow out Marathon again next week.

  3. I’m shocked *SHOCKED* that a Central American player would simulate contact in a match. Still kind of amazed the spikes to Wallace’s knee and the elbow to Quaranta’s head went unpunished (except for the foul call – but no cards issued).

  4. Great game by DC! good possession, quick movement and Pontius looked great on the left though should’ve had 2 goals.

Moreno with a silly red near the end (he did swing his elbow while holding up the ball but not sure if it actually caught the Marathon player)

  5. DCU wins 3-0, a brace by Emilio (who always does well against Honduran sides) and a goal by Moreno (who then gets ejected).

DCU in excellent position to advance to the next round. They’re tied for 2nd place and hold the tie-breakers against Marathon.

Frankly, I”m a bit surprised. While I thought Columbus and Houston had easier groups, I wouldn’t have been shocked if no MLS sides had advanced. Instead, Houston, Columbus and DCU are all either through to the next round or in good shape to do so.

  6. With the Houston result the other night, and tonights impending victory by DC, it shows how much better MLS teams are when there isn’t a complete moron manning the whistle.

  7. With travel difficulties for Marathon, this is a prime chance for United to pick up a key home win and put themselves in great position to advance…
