The U-20 World Cup in Egypt officially kicked off on Thursday with the hosts convincingly defeating Trinidad and Tobago.
A first half 1-1 draw turned into a route as Egypt midfielder Hassan Hussam Arafat Abdalla's brace led the way to a 4-1 victory over the Soca Warriors in front of the 80,000-plus in attendance.
Italy and Paraguay played to a scoreless draw earlier today, but there a couple of more games on tap. Group B gets underway today with Nigeria-Venezuela (12:45pm, ESPN360) and Spain-Tahiti (3:30pm, ESPN360)
The United States opens up their U-20 World Cup playing Germany on Saturday (10am, ESPN360 and Galavision), while Cameroon takes on Korea in the other Group C match.
Are you following the U-20 World Cup? What do you think of Egypt's win? Do you see the U.S. defeating Germany tomorrow?

rout
Must attach PC to Flat screen TV when I get home
umm did anyone else catch that shot of the new nigerian reserves crying on top of each other? Isnt it just the first group game?
I watched the entire match.
T&T outplayed Egypt. T&T just couldn’t finish off anything.
Egypt did dive an awful lot too.
Viva la Mexico!!!!!!!
what?
r u serious?
I watched some of the Egypt game. It looked like they were trying out for the Egyptian Olympic Diving team out there.
go Tahiti!
yea, even though ESPNclassic isnt listed on this article…..US U-20’s vs Germany 10:00 eastern Saturday
Is this Nigeria Venezuela game being played on artificial turf?
Where is Mexico??? ohhhh wait
The Nigerian stepped on a Venezuelan. Not sure if it was intentional. The Venezuelan proceeded to act as if he was being tortured. Got carried off the pitch in a stretcher. Than miraculously was fit to play 2 minutes later…
are you guys watching on 360?
i just get a blank screen, did it take a long time to load?
the US-Germany game is on ESPN classic and Galavision; the Cameroon game will be on the deuce i think.
looks like a straight red- what was it for?
I thought the game was going to be broadcast on ESPN Classic. Will it still be on ESPN Classic?
Venezuela is out Nigeria-ing Nigeria. Already got two cards for Nigeria including a Red.
I was impressed to see the opening ceremony tid bits, and the packed stadium. I couldn’t get to see as much as I wanted, being at work and having to do work, blargh, who thinks up this work stuff??
I can’t wait to get a look in HD*fingers crossed* of our young boys tomorrow morning against a world-powerhouse. I believe they will hold their own. They are much more talented than people think, and have a great coach.
Some dodgy defending by T&T on the first 3 goals.
on FIFA.com, someone said the italy-paraguay match was a bore and that paraguay were unfortunate not to come away winners. interested to see how some of these teams do, but can’t wait for tomorrow to watch the young yanks. a little disappointed there isn’t more TV coverage of the other matches- maybe this gets better as we get to the knockout stages?
If it was on actual TV, I would watch it, but I can’t watch soccer on the computer, its too frustrating. But I’ll make a point to watch the US U-20s.
Been trying to watch this morning’s Italy/Paraguay match on ESPN360 from work… we don’t have it here, but I set it up to connect remotely.
ESPN is denying me access though. I’ve watched it from here before, dunno why it won’t let me now?! Ugh.
Friday’s are always slow, figured it’d be a good way to pass the time.
