The kids are coming and you aren't going to want to miss it.

The U.S. Under-20 national team takes the field at the Under-20 World Cup in Egypt on Saturday and its first match, against Germany, should tell us plenty about what kind of chances the United States has of matching the 2007 Under-20 team, which reached the World Cup quarterfinals.

USA-Germany is just one of several quality matches to choose from this weekend. Hamburg-Bayern Munich, Bordeaux-Rennes and Sao Paulo-Corinthians are just a few of the better games available to American soccer fans this weekend.

Here is a rundown of the Top Ten Matches to Watch as well as the full weekend TV schedule:

This Week's Top 10 Match-ups to Watch

1. USA vs. Germany (Under-20 World Cup). The future of American soccer is on display as the Under-20 team opens World Cup play.

2. Hamburg vs. Bayern Munich. First place Hamburg can open a six point game on Bayern with a win here, but Bayern Munich is playing better than it did to start the season.

3. Bordeaux vs. Rennes. Can Rennes' stingy defense, which includes Carlos Bocanegra, hold up

4. Sampdoria vs. Inter Milan. Sampdoria was unbeaten before the mid-week loss to Fiorentina. This test will be much tougher against the defending champions.

5. Sao Paulo vs. Corinthians. This Sao Paulo Derby is a can't-miss, with plenty of talent and passion on display.

5. Los Angeles Galaxy vs. Columbus Crew. Say it with me: Potential MLS Cup Final preview.

6. Fulham vs. Arsenal. Can Clint Dempsey and the Cottagers battle the Gunners in another London Derby.

7. New England Revolution vs. Seattle Sounders. Vital points on the line for two teams battling for playoff spots.

8. Toluca vs. Cruz Azul. Two teams in first place in their Mexico League groups square off in what should be an intense match.

9. England vs. Uruguay (Under-20 World Cup). Some of England's better young stars are on this squad, which makes watching them one of the joys of the tournament.

T10. Liverpool vs. Hull City. Jozy Altidore should get his first chance to play one of the Big Four EPL clubs since making the move to England.

T10. Brazil vs. Costa Rica (Under-20 World Cup). Can you ever pass up a chance to see Brazil's top youngsters play?

What do you think of this weekend's schedule? Which matches are you most looking forward to? Excited for the start of the Under-20 World Cup?

Share your thoughts below.

  1. I really really hate the fact that Terry Vaughn is officiating the Crew/Galaxy match… How does this guy still have a job? It seems like every match this guy officiates, the underdog wins. I’m not saying he is betting on games but….. hmm….. anyway expect a pk to be called in this match like the 2 phantom pks chicago got against chivas and the phantom pk dallas got against the crew earlier this year.

  2. Where’s running commentary??? It’s 9:30 already. Ives must be snoozin.

(SBI-I almost always post around 10am SG. 9:30am is kind of early you know.)

  3. Ives, nice to see such a worlwide coverage and knowledge on your part by including Sao Paulo vs. Corinthians on the list.

    Classic match up.

  4. The USA’s U20 lineup for tomorrow will probably be:

Bench: Lambo, Taylor, Stephens, Powers, Agbossoumonde, Maund, Mayen

    Not dressing: Ownby, Arguez, Johnson,

  5. Does anybody have a lead on a decent online feed for the U-20 USA/Germany match on Saturday?

I’m overseas and can’t get any sat tv coverage.

  6. As mentioned in the yanks abroad section earlier, but missing here:

    Saturday 9:30 am (est)
    Goltv – Bundesliga
    Wolfsburg vs Hannover 96

    *according to GolTV site

  7. i guess were not going to see who should start the u-20 game from ives

anyways u will probably see……Perk GK,Williams RB, Agbossomounde CB, Davies CB, Flores LB, Jeffrey RM, Duka CM, Diskerud CM, Mayen LM, Marosevic RS, Shea LS

    well do okay

  8. Phil Brown may be on the outs at Hull City…rumors are rumors but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him axed. Most Americans don’t fair well with a management switch, but for Jozy I’d hope it wouldn’t be horrendous since he doesn’t have too much competition at HC.

  9. At the very least, one would hope we can at least get a new U-20 picture out of this tournament. You know, an unawkward one that doesn’t involve kneeing our keeper in the groin….
