The Columbus Crew will attempt to become the first MLS team to win an official match in Mexico tonight when it takes on Toluca in CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal action (8pm, Fox Soccer Channel/Telefutura).
The Crew came back to tie Toluca, 2-2, in the first leg in Columbus, but will likely need a win in tonight's second leg to secure passage into the semifinals.
If you will be watching tonight's match, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

I wonder what happened with Memo Ochoa and NK’s goal. That looked like a wicked bounce.
Based on the lucky save by Ochoa and the shot stopped by the NK goalkeeper, I’m gonna vote NK “Most Likely Spoiler.”
Defensive break-down.
And they’re kind of fast…
Still. NK can score again.
I was impressed with the NK goalie until the second one.
Actually, it does… 8>>X means 8 is much greater than X; 9>x means 9 is greater than X.
The thing is, NK has their behind-the-Iron-Curtain full lineup, and Mex, has Blanco, Ochoa, minus Dos Santos. Still, watching this, NK’s defensive midfield is majorly disruptive. They may $&*( up the Group of Death for someone.
And NK ties the game…
Denver wouldn’t have mattered as Toluca 3000 feet higher and I read some of DCU players comments after their game in Toluca saying that by the 60th min they felt like they would pass out the air was so thin.
You kidding me? NK v. Mex 1-1, both with good pre-Cup lineups, on TV, and no one’s watching? Still 40 mins of good soccer to go, folks.
Until MLS changes its schedule, people have to get use to losing in this cup. Being optimist, only once in a while a team will do well.
MLS is a disgrace.
If he already blew the wistle, the play is dead. He was already running to the spot.
the Crew beat Saprissa in Costa Rica
Yes. Tol 3 – 2 Crew. (Agg: 5 – 4)
Anyone else watching North Korea v. Mexico (on Telefutura) and finding it a pretty good match?
so was the final score 3-2 with columbus losing?
This is very insightful commentary. So the best club team in the world is lot better than one of the best teams in MLS?
A skill gap between Rogers and Messi? No way!
[dripping with sarcasm]
Javier Aguirre = Leland Palmer ! (of Twin Peaks of course). I had no idea Mexico was playing North Korea tonight but they are. North Korea has had one chance thus far. Mexico hasnt gotten going yet. J Dos Santos and Blanco both in and as I type this the young one goes close with a low shot.
DCU did, but it was in a friendly game. They also came close to beating Toluca in Mexico last year in the Champions league.
Assuming he’s playing like crap in this game, usually he’s a lot better. He’s frustrating to have your team play against.
Just to be clear, in mathematics the “>” sign doesn’t get more powerful if you repeat it.
So you’re saying CONCAChampions will never get better. That’s what you’re saying, right?
Because MLS won’t go to the “European” calendar (Except for Ukraine, Russia, Norway…) in our lifetimes. That’s the subtext of that question. Just to spell it out.
any word why Lenhart got the straight red?
Toluca vs Pachuca? I think I’m gonna puka.
MLS < Mexican League
Gonna be that way for awhile
he looks like crap
I think an MLS team should have to beat another team in a foreign country before they can make demands upon the league.
Actually, I was commenting on all of the U.S. team games on foreign soil in general.
I don’t know about Hesmer.
Has officiating really been that bad? I got home in 60th minute.
For Columbus to get a free kick near the Toluca goal a Tolucan player will have to pull out a gun and shoot a Columbus player.
I predict the world will end before the game is over.
the ref is not giving them a free kick anywhere near the toluca goal
Toluca does not have the killer instinct to take advantage of being up a man. I predict the Crew get a free kick and equalize late in the game to send them through.
barca would put up 10 goals on the crew
so much skill gap to make up over the years
That would result in more red cards.
Columbus is very a undisciplined team, bad fouls, not playing the whistle etc. Rogers has the touch of a grade schooler.
Ekpo gets in a great cross just for Columbus to have no one in the box. Too cautious.
The Crew didn’t seem to protest much. Curious to hear the explanation after the match.
what’s funnier
the red card itself? or the fact that we all knew it was coming, even if it wasn’t deserved
Having Columbus one goal away from winning it was too much of a risk for the ref.
There it is. The inevitable red card.
straight red?
uh…. why was lenhart red carded? I don’t understand spanish
i swear i just saw adrien grenier in the mexican fans
Warzycha frustrates me with how slow he is to sub in offense and go for it. He waits too long.
Crew still just need another goal and then hold Toluca and then they are through
If the Crew should somehow score again I think they should stop celebrating before Toluca scores again.
