red card for the Sounders… going to be tough to get a result after that… but who knows
Saprissa is not impressive at all. Seattle is dominating the game, but as always they’re struggling in the final third.
Seattle should be winning this one. They are clearly the better side, and if it wasn’t for the sending off, I’d suspect it’d already be 1-0 Sounders.
Zakuani… how do you not pull the trigger on that one buddy?
Montero has been a non-factor in this one. I haven’t caught any of Seattle’s CCL matches to date, so is this common for him to not be highly involved, or is he having an off night?
awesome run by Zakuani at the end of the half
Ooooh Zakuani that was a nice run
This diving is pissing me off.
I can see the argument for a yellow; the follow-through was awkward and dangerous. A red is ridiculous.
Shame, because Seattle was really dominating before the card.
You serious? Just beacuse you mistimed the tackle and it wasn’t intentional, it still is a clear studs up challange to the guys thigh. That is a red in Costa Rica and everywhere else.
Plus, Dracula is a good ref. He’s legit.
This team is ridiculous.
Saprissa players diving, cheap tackling, complaining all over the place.
How the hell is that a straight red card?!??!
How is that even a yellow card? Some guy trucks into you after you hit a long ball as your leg is up and it’s a red card on you?!?!?!
F this official.
Red card for Seattle’s Gonzalez. I think it’s a good call.
Costa Rican players are super good at diving.
Cool, thanks.
it comes down to marketing the event then. Not quite like Superliga nor friendlies at Toyota Park. But you should be able to fill in most seats even if you practically give away the tickets. Between weekday games and unknown teams, MLS sides should make it bone cheap for youth clubs to attend.
Crew are a true blue collar team which fit their name. They aren’t flashy by any means but they are effective. Even their reserves are capable of success. Again, they put forth 110% each game which finds them success
a terrible strategy. They should make it cheaper just to sell out the game. Its an extra game(s). Poor planning by Crew IMO
Attendance has been poor for almost every Champions League match. This is why I don’t understand people going on about so few people at Crew games. This is a young tournament still, and you’re playing against teams most fans have never heard of. It’s going to take a while.
Prices for CCL games are higher than MLS games…not a good strategy for weeknight attendance.
Mark McCullers has been general manager since 2005, and I’d say he’s had something to do with the success along with Sigi and Bob.
ekpo crossed it to Garey
maybe they are still entering the field, but im not impressed with Saprissa’s attendance neither, which is shocking…
with how young he is and how comfortable he is with the ball tonight, i hope he continues to develop such
As a fire fan, i absolutely hate Big Bird.
As a potential US striker, i absolutely love the idea of Lenhart getting a call up. the guy reminds me of BMB, whether or not he pans out, that goal he notched tonight was class.
Of course you have to applaud Duka on the pass
duka has been impressive in the matches ive seen him. They’ve been few and far between, but he’s a quality youth player.
i would say you stand a good chance at accomplishing this.
Supporters Shield is another piece of hardware Crew can win, plus there is always the Cup itself.
Didn’t see what all the Duka hype was all about, now am beginning to see. Certainly someone to watch.
Crew comfortably seeking a fourth.
These are some pretty ridiculous tackles by Joe Public.
Crew fans, who’s been in charge of assembling the roster? Since 2007 or so they’ve had a good, deep squad. Was it just Sigi and then Warzycha or some kind of General Manager?
There is someone on the ground every 3 minutes.
Confidence…
Pretty sure that was Ekpo…
Does anyone have a take on this Duka character this year?
Some of the other teams aren’t in first place in the East and tied for second overall…. However if they pull 15-16k a week that’s not too bad
I guess because I feel for the team, both the Crew and Dallas have quality teams, yet their attendance is less then stellar.
They have NEVER had good attendance on the weekdays… but they average 15/16k for a weekend match. Not horrible but I dont think its really all that bad considering some of the other teams attendance.
Garey with a header, Crew up 2 nil.
Yeah they are playing well…. Should have been two there
It may be time for relocation. Crew attendance is horrible for the quality they have….
Two nothing nice cross…
Crew!! Goal. Up 1 nil
The Crew really are a fairly deep team for MLS. They should be incorporating some of these guys in more MLS matches. That was quality.
Yeah right on
I guess no one care, but that was a sick goal.
Crew 2010:
Playoffs
USOC Winners
Advance in the CCL
Another stellar year.
Mendoza should have finished his chance
you wouldnt have to if they didnt look 3/4’s empty
crew reserves holding their own though. Seems a great turn of events when their reserves can handle other league’s key starters. But i would like to see MLS sides start using more starters in CCL and start working in reserves into other games like MLS and USOC (in case of the Crew). At this point i would simply like to see MLS sides do well in CCL even if it isnt Fire :-/

Burns is quality IMO. But then again, i actually grew up playing against him.
ROB- i was going to ask about the attendance as well. Did Crew forget to promote this game?? i understand its a weekday, but there are portions of the stands that are completely open.
Sullivan is knowledgeable, but he needs to be paired with someone that is a bit more enthusiastic
Why do we always have to talk about the stands?
Chris Sullivan, knowledgable as he is, is soooo boring to listen too. Kills the game for me.
Crew reserves vs Joe Public….. Amazing
Question more people on the field or in the stands tonight?
