  1. Seattle should be winning this one. They are clearly the better side, and if it wasn’t for the sending off, I’d suspect it’d already be 1-0 Sounders.

Zakuani… how do you not pull the trigger on that one buddy?

Montero has been a non-factor in this one. I haven’t caught any of Seattle’s CCL matches to date, so is this common for him to not be highly involved, or is he having an off night?

  2. I can see the argument for a yellow; the follow-through was awkward and dangerous. A red is ridiculous.

Shame, because Seattle was really dominating before the card.

  3. You serious? Just beacuse you mistimed the tackle and it wasn’t intentional, it still is a clear studs up challange to the guys thigh. That is a red in Costa Rica and everywhere else.

Plus, Dracula is a good ref. He’s legit.

  4. How the hell is that a straight red card?!??!

How is that even a yellow card? Some guy trucks into you after you hit a long ball as your leg is up and it’s a red card on you?!?!?!

    F this official.

  5. it comes down to marketing the event then. Not quite like Superliga nor friendlies at Toyota Park. But you should be able to fill in most seats even if you practically give away the tickets. Between weekday games and unknown teams, MLS sides should make it bone cheap for youth clubs to attend.

  6. Crew are a true blue collar team which fit their name. They aren’t flashy by any means but they are effective. Even their reserves are capable of success. Again, they put forth 110% each game which finds them success

  7. Attendance has been poor for almost every Champions League match. This is why I don’t understand people going on about so few people at Crew games. This is a young tournament still, and you’re playing against teams most fans have never heard of. It’s going to take a while.

  8. Mark McCullers has been general manager since 2005, and I’d say he’s had something to do with the success along with Sigi and Bob.

  9. As a fire fan, i absolutely hate Big Bird.

As a potential US striker, i absolutely love the idea of Lenhart getting a call up. the guy reminds me of BMB, whether or not he pans out, that goal he notched tonight was class.

Of course you have to applaud Duka on the pass

  10. i would say you stand a good chance at accomplishing this.

Supporters Shield is another piece of hardware Crew can win, plus there is always the Cup itself.

  11. Crew fans, who’s been in charge of assembling the roster? Since 2007 or so they’ve had a good, deep squad. Was it just Sigi and then Warzycha or some kind of General Manager?

  12. Some of the other teams aren’t in first place in the East and tied for second overall…. However if they pull 15-16k a week that’s not too bad

  13. They have NEVER had good attendance on the weekdays… but they average 15/16k for a weekend match. Not horrible but I dont think its really all that bad considering some of the other teams attendance.

  14. Yeah they are playing well…. Should have been two there

It may be time for relocation. Crew attendance is horrible for the quality they have….

    Two nothing nice cross…

  15. The Crew really are a fairly deep team for MLS. They should be incorporating some of these guys in more MLS matches. That was quality.

  16. you wouldnt have to if they didnt look 3/4’s empty

crew reserves holding their own though. Seems a great turn of events when their reserves can handle other league’s key starters. But i would like to see MLS sides start using more starters in CCL and start working in reserves into other games like MLS and USOC (in case of the Crew). At this point i would simply like to see MLS sides do well in CCL even if it isnt Fire :-/

  18. Burns is quality IMO. But then again, i actually grew up playing against him.

ROB- i was going to ask about the attendance as well. Did Crew forget to promote this game?? i understand its a weekday, but there are portions of the stands that are completely open.

Sullivan is knowledgeable, but he needs to be paired with someone that is a bit more enthusiastic
