By JOHN BOSCHINI

One of the most coveted conference tournament titles in college soccer is up for grabs this afternoon when No. 3 Maryland clashes with No. 4 North Carolina at WakeMed Stadium in Carey, NC. North Carolina comes in as the top seed, riding a 12-game unbeaten streak and an undefeated record against ACC opponents, including a 2-1 victory at home against Maryland on Sept. 24. Maryland has been unstoppable since its loss to the Tar Heels, rattling off a 12-game winning streak and outscoring its opponents 35-3 during that span.

Aside from the conference title, today's game will be a good look at several professional prospects. For UNC, be on the lookout for Enzo Martinez, who scored the Heels only goal in their semifinal win over Boston College. Fully-healed Michael Farfn and junior Kirk Urso will be dangerous going forward. For Maryland, its offense is led by the striking duo of senior Jason Herrick and junior Casey Townsend. Goalkeeper Zac MacMath has be an absolute rock in the back for the Terrapins while the already strong midfield has the ACC Rookie of the Year Patrick Mullins coming off the bench.

I'll be providing live commentary for today's match, which will be viewable on various Fox Sports affiliates around the Southeast.Be sure to leave thoughts and opinions on the match in the comments section below and enjoy the match!

——————–

Postgame- Some players really distinguished themselves today. MacMath showed why he is one of the best goalkeepers in the country. Ababio did a great job holding Maryland to one goal. Before Farfan went off he was playing very well.

——————–

Final- Maryland 1, UNC 0. Maryland wins the ACC tournament! Maryland players mobbing each other . This obviously means a lot. Awards ceremony coming soon. The Terps deserved the title but UNC played valiantly a man down. Much more offense than the 1-0 scoreline would indicate.

——————–

90th minute- Maryland had the opportunity to go on a 3 on 1 break but didn't take it. 30 second left.

——————–

89th minute- Goal kick for Carolina. Just about a minute to go.

——————–

89th minute- Maryland with the opportunity to finish it off with a free kick on the right side. It leads to a corner for the Tersp. MAryland player down injured and the clock is stopped.

——————–

87th minute- Handball on Maryland and Urso is taking the free kick. UNC has six in the box. The kick bounces into MacMath.

——————–

87th minute- Long throw into the box and Maryland clears

——————–

86th minute- UNC goal kick as we have five minutes left. This is shaping up to be an exciting finale.

——————–

84th minute- UNC sub: Murphy in for Lovejoy. Lovejoy has played well. Surprised he's coming off.

——————–

84th minute- Maryland earns a corner but Herrick can't connect with the cross.

——————–

82nd minute- Maryland only has one shot this half and now they're content putting everyone behind the ball and holding out

——————–

81st minute- Lovejoy gets taken down inside the box but no call. It's been a frantic conclusion here and UNC has a corner.

——————–

80th minute- Urso with a free kick 40 yards out. Everyone forward for UNC. Maryland clears and Rose give it away.

——————–

78th minute- Maryland goal kick. UNC has 12 minutes to make this a game

——————–

75th minute- Carolina Just Wide! Robbie Lovejoy is alone on goal. His shot beats MacMath but also beats the far post. Where was this in the first half for Carolina?

——————–

74th minute- Maryland sub: Mullins back on replacing Townsend. Long throw coming up for UNC but MacMath claims it

——————–

73rd minute- UNC with a dangerou free kick along the left sideline. Urso to take it. MacMath punches it. it comes out to Lovejoy but he puts it over. That was close.

——————–

71st minute- Martinez flicks on a long throw but it's directly at MacMath.

——————–

69th minute- We're back with Cortes in for Mullins for Maryland. Mullins was solid in defense but didn't have much going forward

——————–

69th minute- TV timeout. UNC playing much better this half. Maryland seems content to win this one 1-0 but will concede an equalizer if they're not careful

——————–

62nd minute- Maryland goal kick. UNC is having long spells of possession in the final third.

——————–

64th minute- Mullins gets dispossessed by Ababio. The freshman hasn't been particularly impressive in his short time on the field.

——————–

62nd minute- Townsend with all sorts of space but Ababio stands tall. He's been the best defensive player by far.

——————–

61st minute- Maryland sub: Stertzer and White in for Cortes and Leikvang.

——————–

59th minute- North Carolina with a corner kick. It's the Heels fifth.

——————–

57th minute- Ehtan White is down injured. Mullins coming on to replace him

——————–

57th minute- Despite being down a man. UNC is playing much better than the first half. Murphy with the ball in the box but can't cut it back.

——————–

56th minute- A long throw finds the head of McCarthy but his flick on doesn't have enough power to beat MacMath

——————–

54th minute- Maryland with a free kick from midfield but Goodwin collects easily. For a game with so many shots. The UNC keeper hasn't had much to do aside from the penalty.

——————–

52nd minute- MARYLAND OFF THE LINE! Murphy gets around MacMath but Alex Lee clears it off the line. Wow.

——————–

51st minute- Cagey start to the second half. Neither team wanting to concede a goal.

——————–

50th minute- McKinney with a bad turnover and UNC is getting frustrated.

——————–

47th minute- Corner for North Carolina. McCarthy was alone 5 yards from goal but couldn't bring the pass under control. UNC needs to finish off those chances.

——————–

46th minute- We're off with Carolina in posession

——————–

Halftime- About to kick off. Can UNC shock everyone and get an equalizer?

——————–

Halftime- 19 shots in the first half so there's plenty of offense. The only concern you should have if you're a Terrapin fan is Herrick and Townsend both have a yellow card and it seems like if referee Landis Wiley calls a foul, it's a card.

——————–

Halftime- Maryland 1, UNC 0. An eventful half to say the least. We haven't seen a replay of the Farfan tackle but from up here it looked very harsh, especially considering how loose the game had been called up to that point. It was the first straight red of the season for UNC. Maryland was gifted its first goal but they are the better team so far.

——————–

43rd minute- Anibaba beats MacMath to the ball but his header is far too high. Goal kick Maryland

——————–

42nd minute- Martinez is fouled in midfield. UNC pouring players into the box. Their best chance for an equalizer might come from a setpiece. Maryland clears but UNC has a throw in deep in Maryland territory and it's a long one but Robie Lovejoy's shot is blocked. Corner for UNC

——————–

39th minute- Anibaba with a foul on Herrick just outside the 18-yard box.

——————–

38th minute- Maryland sub: Helge Leikvang in for Kassel.

——————–

37th minute- Two players down on the turf. Herrick with a yellow card.

——————–

36th minute- Martinez with a defelcted shot that's collected easily by MacMath

——————–

35th minute- Patrick Mullins comes in for the injured Stertzer. It seems difficult for UNC to come back at this point.

——————–

35th minute- UNC Red Card! Farfan is off! It was a rough tackle on John Stertzer but that was harsh.

——————–

34th minute- Maryland sub: Torres on for Cortes. UNC clears a Maryland corner.

——————–

33rd minute- Another UNC player goes tumbling but the ref waves play on. They're really going after each other today.

——————–

32nd minute- Farfan with a curling shot that is barely batted away by MacMath. Two of the ACC's best squaring off with the keeper coming out on top

——————–

30th minute- Farfan with a beautiful through pass in to McCrary but Greg Young gets just enough on it to clear the danger. UNC Sub- Lovejoy for Murphy

——————–

30th minute- Townsend received a yellow for a rough tackle.

——————–

29th minute- Robbie Lovejoy set to come on for Martin Murphy. He's a player that needs some development but has loads of potential.

——————–

27th minute. UNC subs: McCrary and McCarthy in for Dixon and Urso. Now we have a McCarty, McCrary and McCarthy in for UNC. Makes commentating a bit difficult

——————–

26th minute- Maryland with a cross but UNC's defense stays strong. Seems as though they're settling down a little.

——————–

23rd minute- Dixon breaks into the box out of the timeout but puts his shot right at MacMath. He should have had that one.

——————–

23rd minute- Taylor Kemp with a long, long shot that goes wide. Timeout on the field. One of the quirks of college soccer.

——————–

21st minute- Maryland with a dangerous cross into the box but Townsend and Herrick can't get a foot on it. UNC flirting with disaster

——————–

20th minute- Martinez breaks into the box and puts a shot on goal but it's blocked. Martinez wanted a handball but the ref waves play on.

——————–

17th minute- McCarty climbs the back of Herrick but no call. The ref letting the two teams play today.

——————–

17th minute- Dixon with a low shot that is wide of MacMath. Goal kick for Maryland

——————–

16th minute- UNC with another turnover in its own half. The Heels better be careful or they'll be down 2

——————–

14th minute- GOAL MARYLAND! Kassel buries the penalty kick with Goodwin going the wrong way. UNC faces an uphill battle now

——————–

13th minute- Penalty Maryland! It's a handball inside the box. Matt Kassel stepping up to take it. Handball on Martinez.

——————–

10th minute- Doug Rodkey with a dangerous shot from the top of the 18 but Goodwin produces a fine, diving save.

——————–

8th minute- Early on it's easy to see why Farfan is so valuable to UNC. He's winning headers and keeping posession which is vital against a Maryland team that is so prolific offensively.

Billy Cortes with a free shot from 20 yards out but it skips directly to Goodwin

——————–

6th minute- Matt Rose gets the ball on the left flank after some extended possession by UNC but his first touch lets him down and it's out for a goal kick

——————–

4th minute- Murphy with a long range shot for UNC but it floats harmlessly over the bar. UNC fans making some noise here but Maryland the better team early on.

——————–

3rd minute- Jason Herrick forces a turnover in just outside UNC's penalty area but Goodwin tips it over. Corner for Maryland.

——————–

1st minute- Maryland kicks off and we're underway.

——————–

Pregame- High 60's without a cloud in the sky. Absolutely gorgeous day.

——————–

Pregame- Coming out for the national anthem. This might be the best matchup of the season so far with both teams being on such a good run of form.

——————–

Pregame- Decent turnout for today's game. Equal parts Maryland and UNC but expect that to change as North Carolina fans are still trickling in. Friday night's semifinal between UNC and Boston College drew 1,621 people.

———————

Pregame- Nice to see Stertzer in the lineup for the Terrapins. He took a serious ankle knock in the later stages of Friday's semifinal. Maryland coach Sasho Cirovski was less than optimistic about his chances two nights ago. Look for Paul Torres and Patrick Mullins to come off the bench and make an impact.

——————–

Pregame- A 12-game unbeaten streak would suggest that the Tar Heels are just fine despite missing a few players to injury but we'll see how they hold up with their third game in five days. They're starting 11 is one of the best in the country but there's no doubt that Maryland is deeper on the bench.

——————–

Pregame- Here are the starting lineups for the game
