  1. I agree with alf, CBs do positioning drills week in week out. Only play Edu there against lesser opponents, otherwise call in Goodson, Parkhurst, Gonzalez etc. Edu is a better player but I’d rather have a more natural CB

  2. well Hamilton is the worst team in the league. The defending was awful though, I can’t see a top flight team giving up a goal like that. hell I can’t even see most MLS teams defending so poorly

  3. Switching is possible if the player does it for both club and country, but at the very least for the club. You can not become an international quality center back by playing there 8-10 games a year total. That position is just too hard to get a feel for on such a limited basis. Edu thinks of himself as a midfielder and it is clear that is where he wants a fair shot for the nats. His quotes after the last camp said as much.

  4. I’d still like to see Edu play more at CB for the Nats. It’s not unprecendented. Heitenga switches between D-mid and CB for Everton and Holland. Rafa Marquez plays both regurlarly. Even Busquets at Barca handles both positions depending on what Guardiola needs.

If Edu has the versatility to pull it off, it’d help both him AND the National team. Win, win situation. I say keep giving Edu looks at CB and see what happens.

  5. Before we get into the nauseating D-mid debate with the Nats, I personally would like to see Edu stay healthy and on the field for three consecutive months. Something he hasn’t done in three years.

I’m rooting for the guy, but he still needs to prove his durability at this point.

  6. Now that was a fine finish by Edu, so he gets credit for that. But that was HORRID marking by Hamilton. Ridiculous defending there.

  7. Just to put this game in perspective, Hamilton was struck by injuries and had to bring in a couple of untested teenage defenders. As a ‘Gers and a US fan, it’s great to see Mo back in action, looks like he enjoyed his return as well!!

  8. Ricardo Clark played 90 minutes in the Bundesliga today. Blame some of the other players too. 120 minutes and the US couldn’t score a goal except from a penalty.

  9. I think that’s the second goal this year he has scored with his left foot. Of our CM corp he appears to have the best scoring abilities, just slightly ahead of Bradley.

  10. Wow, if that awful defending is anyway representative of the quality of SPL teams than MLS is already better than the SPL. Awful defending.
