Sporting Kansas City and the Montreal Impact are both eying the top spot in the MLS Eastern Conference and tonight’s match-up at Sporting Park will offer us some evidence of just which of them is the more likely challenger to fellow East powers Houston and the New York Red Bulls.

The Red Bulls will look to hold onto the top spot in the East with a win vs. the Vancouver Whitecaps. If they stumble they could open the door for the Impact if Montreal can record a win on the road.

The post-Chelis era begins for Chivas USA against a Seattle Sounders team that will be eager to erase the memories of a bad week that included a shellacking vs. the Los Angeles Galaxy and a shock U.S. Open Cup exit.

Here is a rundown of today’s MLS matches:

  1. SJ time travel to mid 2011, pre-Baca in the middle. Which is essentially a disjointed mess. Yallop still experimenting at ACM…Jahn was very very poor there versus RSL…non-stop turnovers. Third game in a row with Gordon starting up top…his form has nosedived…no hold up play at all. The body language of the players on the field is poor…I think bringing in Martinez and minimizing Baca’s role has disrupted team chemistry…things look a little sour right now.

  2. Wow I hate Salazar, he makes it his JOB to send off a Sounders player sent off every time he refs them, 5 reds in last 5 reffed games for him. Martins is getting up after a tussel, appears to accidentally hits the Chivas guy in the face and gets sent off? He is a terrible ref and yet still gets more chances. What a joke.

Montreal wins 2-1 as Vermes stalks the field looking like he wants a piece of someone from the Impact

    • Second half was way better. I didn’t watch it but jack mac scored, and that’s why it was better. That brings this weeks fantasy goal total to one.

      • Slightly better. Philly still couldn’t do much of anything despite the man advantage. Rather pathetic.
        JackMac is the man, tho.
