Josh Sargent nominated for EFL Championship’s Player of the Month award for August

Josh Sargent’s fast start to the 2025-26 EFL Championship season has earned him his first honor of the campaign.

Sargent is one of four finalists for the league’s Player of the Month award for August, the EFL announced Thursday. The U.S. men’s national team forward played an impactful role for Norwich City over his first four league appearances of the new season.

Sargent made four appearances in Liam Manning’s squad, scoring five of Norwich City’s six goals. The American attacker scored once apiece in matches against Millwall, Portsmouth, and Middlesbrough before adding a brace against Blackburn Rovers to his tally.

He also scored once in EFL Cup play, a 2-1 road victory over Watford back in August.

Despite being linked with an exit from Carrow Road this summer, Sargent has committed to Norwich City. He now has 54 goals scored in 138 appearances for the English second-tier side.

Sargent most recently featured for the USMNT against South Korea last Saturday and will be back in the Norwich City squad for a showdown with Coventry City on Saturday.
