Arsenal’s English Premier League title hopes may be out of reach, but if they don’t stop their recent slide they could end up out of a UEFA Champions League place.
The Gunners face Tim Howard and fifth-place Everton in a crucial EPL match that could decide who finishes in the top four. Everton currently sit four points behind Arsenal but have a game in hand, giving the Toffees room to dream of a place in Europe’s elite competition.
Atletico Madrid will try to hold on to their slender one-point La Liga lead when they host Villarreal. Atletico will be without Diego Costa, while their crosstown rivals, Real Madrid will face Real Sociedad without Cristiano Ronaldo.
In Germany, Borussia Dortmund continues to battle for second place in the Bundesliga and will take on fifth-place Wolfsburg. Hamburg, in danger of slipping further into the relegation zone, face a difficult task against Bayer Leverkusen.
Other matches around the world to keep an eye on this weekend are the MLS Cup final rematch between Sporting Kansas City and Real Salt Lake, the Clasico Joven between Club America and Cruz Azul, and Manchester City vs. Southampton early on Saturday morning.

Leaving in the 45th minute does not sound good.
