This Weekend’s Soccer on TV

Manchester City's Edin Dzeko is mobbed by team mates after scoring the second goal

The Premier League season comes to a close this weekend with a full slate of Sunday morning games to headline This Weekend’s Soccer on TV.

Manchester City highlight Sunday’s action as the Premier League leaders host West Ham needing only one point needed to secure the club’s second title in three seasons. Sitting just behind them are Luis Suarez and Liverpool, who will take on Newcastle with one eye on the matchup in Manchester.

In Spain, Atletico Madrid could potentially clinch their first La Liga title since 1995-96 Sunday afternoon when they take on Malaga. Second-place Barcelona will need to at least match Atletico’s result in their contest with Elche in order to set up a winner-take-all match with Atletico for the season’s final week.

In this weekend’s other action, Serie A winners Juventus take on AS Roma, Paris Saint-Germain face Lille, and Club Léon tries to make it to their second consecutive Liga MX title when they meet Toluca on Sunday evening.

    • Wow..Great writers…
They included DeMichaelis as one of the 10 worst transfers, but no mention of Van Wolfswinkle.
They included Ozil, he was expensive, but he made a difference at Arsenal so I can’t see how he’s one of the worst…
Fellaini and Soldado.. Ok, they got a few right

  1. You could just see how increasingly crestfallen Rebecca Lowe and Arlo White were after each event unfolded that made “Championship Sunday” almost irrelevant.

Relegation over, top all but over, champions league over. To be totally honest, the last Europa League spot might be the most up for grabs. United is 3 points back of Tottenham but has superior GD.

Tottenham has been the only English team who has cared about the EL recently, but it hasn’t really done them any good. The Glazers are on the record saying they want to play in the EL next year because they count on European mid-week revenue. Wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Tottenham lose and Man U win.

    • Yes. Starting at the end of May. I think the first game is airing before (or after?) the Azerbaijan USMNT game. I saw the promo yesterday during the USWNT game.

  2. Nothing indicates how bad a season this has been for Manchester United than playing on the SyFy network on the final day of the season.

Also, how awesome is it that Stoke City vs. West Brom is on Oxygen!?

  3. Talk about the final kick to the gonads when you’re down:

Fulham’s last game in the EPL…and it will be televised on the E! network.

OUCH. (Kardashians will be doing the play by play)

  4. also finally La Liga is something to watch besides Barca n Madrid crushing teams 7-0. been a decade since Valencia won the league
