The Nigerian forward scored five September goals, extending the Sounders streak to 11-0-0 when Martins finds the back of the net. Martins goalscoring form was enough to keep the Sounders in the Supporters’ Shield race and earn the star forward recognition as SBI MLS Player of the Month.

September opened with a bang for Martins, who scored a pair of goals in a 4-2 victory over Chivas USA before adding another in a victory over Real Salt Lake.
