U.S. U-18 MNT plays to 1-1 draw with Club Tijuana

The U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team played to a 1-1 draw against Club Tijuana during the group stage of the Copa Chivas in Guadalajara, Mexico on Monday.

The Yanks trailed 1-0 at the halftime break, after Mathews Gomes Da Silva Julio netted in the 10th minute for Club Tijuana.

D.C. United Academy player and University of Maryland-commit Eryk Williamson equalized for the U.S. in the 62nd minute. Jonathan Klinsmann assisted on the tally.

The Americans outshot Tijuana 20-10 on the afternoon, including an 11-4 edge in shots on target.

The draw leaves the U.S. with four points through three games and sitting in fourth place of Group A. With one match remaining, the Americans are one point behind second-placed Cruziero. The top two teams from each of the four groups advance to the quarterfinals.

The U.S. finishes group play on Tuesday morning against group-leaders Universidad Católica of Chile.
